About The Position

The EKG (Electrocardiogram) Instructor is responsible for educating students on the foundational and advanced concepts of EKG technology. This role involves teaching both theoretical knowledge and practical application, including performing and interpreting EKGs, understanding cardiac rhythms, and preparing students for certification and real-world healthcare environments. The instructor fosters a supportive learning atmosphere and ensures compliance with industry standards.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED (required).
  • Completion of an accredited EKG Technician program (required).
  • Current certification as an EKG Technician (CET or equivalent).
  • Minimum of 3 years of hands-on experience performing EKGs in a clinical or hospital setting.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to create a structured, engaging, and inclusive learning environment.
  • Proficiency in using EKG equipment and instructional technology.
  • Current CPR/BLS certification.
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screening.
  • Commitment to upholding ethical and professional standards in the classroom and clinical settings.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous teaching or training experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Teach the principles of electrocardiography, including cardiac anatomy, physiology, and electrical conduction systems.
  • Demonstrate proper lead placement, equipment operation, and troubleshooting techniques for EKG machines.
  • Guide students in analyzing and interpreting cardiac rhythms and abnormalities.
  • Develop and/or adapt lesson plans to meet certification standards and align with current industry practices.
  • Integrate hands-on training, case studies, and simulations into the curriculum.
  • Evaluate student performance through written tests, practical demonstrations, and clinical assessments.
  • Provide individualized feedback and mentorship to support student success.
  • Ensure that instructional activities comply with OSHA, HIPAA, and applicable healthcare regulations.
  • Teach and enforce safe practices when handling equipment and working in clinical environments.
  • Stay informed about advancements in EKG technology, cardiac care, and healthcare education.
  • Participate in continuing education opportunities to maintain instructional and technical proficiency.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, performance, and certification readiness.
  • Collaborate with staff to schedule classes and manage instructional resources.
