About The Position

LivWell Community Health Services is a non-profit organization providing comprehensive health and support services, education, and advocacy, as related to HIV/AIDS, sexually transmitted diseases, and viral hepatitis. Quality health care is provided to persons living with HIV/AIDS or sexually transmitted diseases, support services are provided to HIV clients and their families, and prevention education and testing are provided to all clients, their families, and the community at large. Within the community, we strive to prevent new infections of HIV and STIs and reduce the stigma associated with these various diseases by promoting awareness, acceptance, and equality. As an EIS Prevention and Outreach Coordinator, a typical day might look like this: Performing HIV testing at an event or walk-ins at the LWCHS Outreach Center Providing HIV testing counseling before and after testing Entering records and data into statistics databases Stocking condoms and literature displays at LivWell and throughout our service area Scheduling and coordinating testing events within the community and in conjunction with area partner agencies Travel throughout our service area using a company vehicle to obtain new partnerships for testing and outreach Keeping open lines of communication flowing with current and prospective community partners while keeping direct managers informed of such communication Developing educational mediums and materials Attending testing and outreach events in locations including but not limited to health fairs, colleges, SUD recovery centers, jails, and community events” Any other duties that may evolve within this position This job may be for you if: You are willing to become a certified HIV tester and facilitate testing events You are not afraid to speak publicly on topics including safe sex practices and sexual education You are a good listener and can show empathy and sensitivity to others in a non-judgmental way You see the benefit of working with diverse populations, can display cultural sensitivity, and understand the need for cultural relevance in services You understand the importance of privacy and staying in compliance with regulations You can balance competing priorities You can work under pressure and understand that you may encounter high emotional intensity occasionally You are energetic and are willing to work occasionally flexible shifts including some evenings and weekends as needed You pay attention to details, are apt in catching mistakes, and are good at noticing social cues You are motivated to set goals and achieve them You know what is worth doing is worth doing well You communicate clearly and do so with warmth and tact You are able to work closely with coworkers in a group setting You are comfortable talking to people on the phone or in-person You enjoy helping others You are mission-minded and want to contribute to a larger cause Your schedule can accommodate occasional travel, including some overnight or multiple-day assignments You can lift up to 25 pounds

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Valid driver’s license in your state of residence and are insurable to drive LivWell CHS’ vehicles
  • Ability or willingness to learn to drive a traveling medical RV

Nice To Haves

  • Associates degree (AA), preferably in Social Work, Counseling, Communications, or related field preferred
  • Two years of demonstrated experience in prevention, education, outreach, or related activities preferred
  • Experience with social service agencies supporting hard-to-reach and stigmatized populations preferred
  • Healthcare experience preferred
  • Knowledge of HIV disease preferred
  • The ability to communicate fluently in Spanish is a plus

Responsibilities
