The Site EHS Technician is responsible for leading and supporting Environment, Health, and Safety activities within the plant. This role ensures compliance with corporate EHS standards, regulatory requirements, and integrated management systems while driving continuous improvement in workplace safety, machine conformity, environmental protection, and working conditions.

Requirements

  • Engineering degree or equivalent education (Environmental, Sustainability, Safety, Industrial).
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in Safety or Environmental roles.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA regulations.
  • Understanding of ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 standards.
  • Experience with risk assessment, hazard identification, incident investigation, and data analysis.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Problem-solving mindset.
  • Adaptability and flexibility, including availability for overtime/weekend work.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, and maintain the Integrated Management System (IMS) in alignment with ISO 14001, ISO 45001, corporate policies, and legal requirements.
  • Ensure full execution of the EHS control plan, including training, equipment maintenance, sampling/monitoring, and waste/wastewater controls.
  • Evaluate working conditions and site compliance with OSHA and environmental regulations; recommend corrective actions.
  • Support regulatory and corporate reporting, analyze related data, and recommend improvement actions.
  • Maintain up-to-date EHS documentation and ensure inspection of emergency equipment (fire extinguishers, eyewash stations, first aid kits, etc.).
  • Identify unsafe conditions and environmental risks, proposing preventive and corrective actions.
  • Lead accident, near-miss, and occupational illness investigations and define action plans.
  • Support chemical introduction approval processes through Ecomundo.
  • Lead HSE inspections and the Top Safety Observation program.
  • Monitor EHS KPI performance (e.g., TF2: 0.33, 100% HSE inspections, 100% corrected unsafe conditions).
  • Ensure fire insurance compliance and communicate progress to leadership.
  • Act as a key member of the emergency preparedness and response committee, supporting drills and incident coordination.
  • Support EHS onboarding for all new hires, including temps.
  • Conduct EHS-related training sessions and promote employee engagement in safety programs.
  • Cooperate with internal and external stakeholders including HR, Medical, plant management, contractors, auditors, consultants, and local authorities.
  • Has the authority to stop any process posing a safety, environmental, or product quality risk.
