Job Summary: The Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Technician is responsible for supporting compliance with environmental regulations and promoting a safe workplace. This role involves conducting inspections, assessments, and investigations to identify and mitigate environmental and safety risks. The technician will evaluate potential environmental impacts, ensure adherence to applicable laws and standards, and help maintain a healthy and safe environment for employees and the surrounding community. Additionally, the role supports the development, implementation, and maintenance of EHS programs, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • Requires an associate's degree, bachelor's degree, or certification from an accredited curriculum in Environmental Health and Safety, Environmental Technician, Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Science and Sustainability, Environmental Engineering, or Environmental Law. Alternatively, candidates can demonstrate equivalent knowledge through professional expertise in an EHS role.
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Policy Compliance: Knowledge of Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies, Federal and State (Texas) Environmental Regulatory Reporting Agencies (STEERS, TCEQ, EPA); ability to implement EHS policies to ensure that provided products and services are safe for people and the environment and in compliance with legal requirements and standards. Ability to accurately evaluate hazardous material requests and perform auditing of current approved hazardous materials to replace or mitigate to a less hazardous material.
  • Effective Communications: Working knowledge of effective communication concepts, tools and techniques; ability to effectively transmit, receive, and accurately interpret ideas, information, and needs through the application of appropriate communication behaviors. Ability to accurately transmute technical information into a clean, clear and understandable message. Speaks / Writes using correct language, mechanics, and gestures.
  • Initiative: Driven to be proactive and committing to action on self-identified job responsibilities and challenges; ability to seek out work with the drive to accomplish goals.
  • Problem Solving: Capable of utilizing accepted procedures for problem analysis of Environmental Health and Safety related organizational, operational, and / or process failure modes to accurately and effectively root cause and drive to resolution. Ability to accurately describe and demonstrate a disciplined approach to problem solving and escalation measures.
  • Influencing: Knowledge of effective influencing tactics and strategies; ability to impact decisions within and outside own organization and accurately explains own role and responsibility within team. Shares information, knowledge, and expertise openly and proactively.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts inspections, assessments, and / or investigations to ensure compliance with applicable Federal, State, Local and Company environmental and public health laws, rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Evaluates the environmental or public health impact of company activities in one or more of the following areas: noise, air, water quality, and hazardous materials use and impact and initiates and drives continuous improvement opportunities to completion.
  • Reviews Regulatory and Internal permits and licenses to ensure compliance with applicable environmental or public health laws and regulations and making and maintaining necessary environmental records according to established guidelines.
  • Assists in training employees on environmental guidelines, company policies and procedures, and regulations pertaining to EHS.
  • Contributes to the development and monitoring of environmental policies and procedures and performs related work as assigned.
