The EHS Specialist will play a critical role in ensuring the automotive plant operates in compliance with environmental regulations and standards. This position involves developing, implementing, and managing environmental programs and initiatives aimed at minimizing the plant's environmental footprint. The EHS Specialist will collaborate with various departments to integrate sustainable practices into daily operations, conduct environmental assessments, and drive continuous improvement in environmental performance. The primary objective of the EHS Specialist is to ensure the automotive plant operates in an environmentally responsible manner, complying with all relevant regulations and standards while driving sustainability initiatives. The role aims to minimize the environmental impact of the plant's operations, promote sustainable practices, and enhance the company's reputation as a leader in environmental stewardship. The EHS Specialist will work towards achieving measurable improvements in environmental performance, fostering a culture of sustainability, and contributing to the long-term success of the organization.

  • Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental regulations.
  • Monitor and report on environmental performance metrics.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports and documentation.
  • Develop and implement environmental policies and procedures.
  • Design and manage programs for waste reduction, energy efficiency, water conservation, and pollution prevention.
  • Conduct environmental risk assessments and audits.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance sustainability and reduce the plant's environmental impact.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate sustainable practices into manufacturing processes.
  • Promote the adoption of green technologies and renewable energy sources.
  • Conduct training sessions for employees on environmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Raise awareness about environmental issues and sustainability within the organization.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in environmental performance.
  • Implement corrective actions and improvement plans based on audit findings and performance data.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and emerging technologies in environmental engineering.
  • Liaise with regulatory agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders.
  • Represent the company in environmental forums and industry associations.
  • Communicate environmental goals and achievements to internal and external stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree with Environmental focus preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years environmental experience, with a significant portion of that experience in an industrial or manufacturing setting, preferably within the automotive industry.
  • Sound knowledge of safety, environmental regulations, codes, legislative requirements relating to OHSA, MIOSHA and ISO14001 and 45001.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a leadership capacity required.
  • Experience with environmental regulations and compliance, including knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental laws and regulations (e.g., EPA, OSHA).
  • Experience in developing, implementing, and managing environmental programs and initiatives, such as waste reduction, pollution prevention, energy efficiency, and water conservation.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading sustainability initiatives and integrating sustainable practices into manufacturing processes.
  • Project management skills, including the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Experience conducting environmental risk assessments, audits, and environmental impact assessments.
  • Experience in developing and delivering training programs related to environmental policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience engaging with regulatory agencies, community groups, and other stakeholders, as well as representing the organization in environmental forums and industry associations.
  • Proficiency in using environmental management software and tools.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable plans.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate environmental goals, achievements, and technical information to diverse audiences.
  • Must be able to work overtime and weekends, when required
  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
