The EHS Specialist is responsible for driving Environmental, Health, and Safety compliance and performance at the Lititz facility. This role provides technical expertise, regulatory oversight, and daily field-level engagement to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and corporate EHS standards. The EHS Specialist maintains a strong presence on the manufacturing floor and plays a key role in identifying risk, reinforcing safe behaviors, strengthening machine safety programs, and driving continuous improvement through direct collaboration with Operations and Maintenance. This position is both system-oriented and field-focused, balancing policy development, audit/inspection execution, corrective action coordination/management, and real-time hazard mitigation.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in EHS, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related field OR equivalent combination of education and relevant EHS experience required.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience supporting or leading EHS programs, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to write clear, effective safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
  • Strong working knowledge of OSHA regulations and machine safety requirements; familiarity with EPA compliance standards preferred.
  • Comfortable engaging employees at all organizational levels and conducting daily floor audits.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and drive actions to completion.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills with strong interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; experience with SharePoint or document control systems preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive information professionally and confidentially.

  • Bachelor’s degree in EHS, Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related discipline preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, revise, and maintain EHS policies and procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA, EPA, and corporate standards. Assist in compliance sampling, inspection of BMP’s, and coordination of 3rd party providers.
  • Own and maintain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, including machine-specific documentation; perform periodic audits to verify compliance and effectiveness.
  • Support and maintain Safety Management Systems (SMS) and Environmental Management Systems (EMS), including document control and regulatory record retention.
  • Assist with environmental compliance documentation, training, and reporting as required.
  • Maintain consistent daily presence on the manufacturing floor to identify hazards, reinforce safe work practices, and engage employees at all levels.
  • Conduct routine EHS audits, inspections, and behavioral observations.
  • Assist with Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and risk assessments, recommending engineering, administrative, or PPE controls using the hierarchy of controls.
  • Participate in machine safety walks during equipment start-ups, modifications, and major maintenance activities; ensure hazards are identified, documented, and resolved prior to return to service.
  • Escalate or recommend work stoppage when imminent safety risks are identified.
  • Assist in completion, follow-up, and coordination of post-incident investigations and documentation completion.
  • Lead or support incident investigations, including root cause analysis and corrective action tracking.
  • Maintain EHS action trackers (STOP Program, RRNs, audit findings) and drive timely closure of corrective actions.
  • Track and report leading indicators (audits completed, observations performed, actions closed) to evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Identify and replicate EHS best practices within the facility and across the organization.
  • Coordinate EHS training logistics and assist in developing training materials based on risk assessments, audit findings, and incident trends.
  • Support “train-the-trainer” initiatives to equip leaders with tools to reinforce safety expectations.
  • Provide support to the Safety Committee, including agenda development, hold monthly meetings, documentation, and follow-up tracking.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the QEHS Manager in support of site EHS objectives.
