About The Position

Amentum, a global leader in critical mission support, engineering, technology, and national security solutions, is seeking an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Specialist to support the WEXMAC government contract based in El Paso, TX. POSITION SUMMARY The EHS Specialist Supports implementation of Amentum field and office EHS program and occupational safety and health regulations in regional operations. Responsibilities: Conducts facility and site walk down and inspection activities to monitor compliance with Safety Practices such as PPE, etc. Directs activities of safety committee and may provide safety training Acts as a liaison to the Amentum and subcontractor work force training and work performance Fulfills the role of admin support for EHS Supervisor and EHS Manager To coordinate the implementation of the company EHS policies, Safety Management System and project/location specific Safety Management Plans as they apply to the location. Ensure the location complies with the relevant Occupational and Safety Legislation and the respective client's safety requirements. Conduct and report the results of safety observations and audits, evaluate corrective action plans, verify implementation of corrective action plans, and analyze EHS data for trends. Accept assignments within the safety departments and perform specific duties as may be required. Maintain knowledge of applicable rules and regulations including government regulations, standards and policies. Prepare and maintain reports and documentation concerning the aspects of the safety program assigned. Ensure the safety of any subordinates and ensure their compliance with established safety policies, procedures and practices.

Requirements

  • Minimum of five (5) years Safety, Industrial Hygiene, or related experience is preferred.
  • Certification on either the OSHA 30-hour Construction or OSHA 30-hour for General Industry is required.
  • Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English to communicate the requirements of the HSE Program.
  • Detail oriented, self-motivated, and willing to continuously improve site EHS processes
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Access & Power Point.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.
  • Note: US Citizenship is required for facility credentials/authorization at this work location.

Nice To Haves

  • Other formal safety certification such as the Occupational Safety and Health Technologist (OSHT) will also be considered.
