About The Position

In this role the safety specialist is responsible for performing a variety routine and complex administrative and technical task. This position will work closely with operations and engineering and be responsible for planning, developing, administering, and maintaining various components of the Environmental, Health, and Safety management system. They will aid in developing and implementing safety programs, ensuring compliance with OSHA and other applicable regulations in our manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational and Environmental Safety and Health preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication, analytical, and persuasive skills, and the ability to interact effectively with all levels of employees and management
  • Possess an understanding that culture is built on respect, trust, and common goals.
  • Ability to work well under pressure, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines
  • Detail oriented, with exceptional problem-solving, planning, and organizational skills
  • Must be able to navigate in a windows-based computer environment to include Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word
  • Must be able to regularly lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move 100 pounds with an assist

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate Safety Committee meetings
  • Review, update, audit Lockout/Tagout procedures
  • Establish training schedule and Provide training to ensure OSHA compliance.
  • Perform audits to ensure compliance with OSHA, ANSI, NFPA, etc. standards.
  • Provide assistance on incident investigations completion, root cause analysis, corrective action implementation and tracking
  • Help in establishing systems to identify, evaluate and control occupational safety and health hazards
  • Developing policies, programs and projects to abate hazards
  • Ability to effectively initiate change management to drive invested safety culture
  • Assist with company’s safety programs, standards, and procedures to help protect employees against injury and maintain safe working environment.
  • Assist with training activities
  • Perform audits, risk assessments, & Job hazard analysis to identify and mitigate risk to employees
  • Must perform all duties in conjunction with UAI and ISO requirements
