About The Position

Under the direction of Sr. EH&S Manager, assists in implementing and ensuring compliance with federal, state, local, and corporate environmental and occupational safety regulatory requirements. Supports continuous improvement of the Environmental, Health and Safety (EH&S) Management Systems for AVEVA Drug Delivery Systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, Health or Environmental Studies (or related science) and a minimum of (3) years EHS experience
  • OSHA, EPA, FDA (federal, state, and local) regulations, recordkeeping requirements, and guidelines.
  • Basic understanding of Investigation practices and procedures.
  • Able to provide training classes for large audiences.
  • Good understanding of Industrial Hygiene principles and instrumentation.
  • Working knowledge of business, scientific and personal computer hardware and software applications.
  • Proficient in the use of business English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Candidate must read, write and be fluent in English.
  • Knowledge of FDA, cGMPs, and SOPs related to job requirements
  • Able of Interpreting and applying federal, state and local policies, technical procedures and regulations.
  • Support writing technical reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Support and escalate inquiries from management, employees and regulatory agencies to obtain and provide responses.
  • Support the analyzing and troubleshooting of problems, identifying solutions, recommending and implementing methods, procedures and/or techniques for resolution.
  • Is willing to manage multiple projects, duties and assignments.
  • Establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistics. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of situations.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
  • Able to make daily decisions based on experience, knowledge and analytical/logical thinking.
  • Ability to consistently interpret and apply EH&S requirements to facility operations.
  • Must be computer literate with familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self-starter with excellent communication (oral/written) and people skills.
  • Ability to make aggressive EH&S decisions within the bounds of sound business strategic goals.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, EPA, NFPA, DOT, NEC, ANSI regulations/guidelines required.
  • A minimum of five (3) years’ experience in the areas of occupational safety, health or environmental; or equivalent combination of education and/or EH&S technical experience.
  • Hands-on experience in an industrial or manufacturing work environment is required
  • CPR/First Aid Certification (may be obtained while employed).

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the pharmaceutical, medical device or electronics industries is highly desired.
  • Experience in Safety, industrial hygiene and Environmental regulations desired

Responsibilities

  • Support the Sr. EH&S Manager in the implementation of Site EHS training at all levels
  • Support the integration of new SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures)
  • Support in the management of the worker’s Compensation Program.
  • Support the implementation of pro-active Safety and Health Programs.
  • Dispose of hazardous, non-regulated, and biomedical waste streams: maintaining professional contacts with approved waste vendors; and promoting waste minimization, cost-saving, and cost-avoidance measures throughout all operations of the facility.
  • Support periodic industrial hygiene, safety, and environmental sampling/testing.
  • Participate in risk assessments of chemicals, equipment, and operations to specify engineering controls, work practices, and personal protective equipment as applicable.
  • Support the maintenance of EHS documentation in accordance with regulatory record-keeping requirements.
  • Assist and support the integration of behavior-based observations and identify hazardous workplace conditions establishing compliance guidelines for risk and injury reduction.
  • Support incident investigations and reporting processes
  • Participate in first aid team, perform first aid, AED, Spill kit inspections.
  • Support the completion of site permits (i.e. air, industrial wastewater, stormwater, etc.) and performance of duties to maintain compliance with permit conditions.
  • Be able to represent EHS in cross functional projects for new process/chemical introduction, process capacity expansion, facility changes, new equipment introduction, etc.
  • With support from the EHS Manager, participate in compliance audit and regulatory inspections.
  • With guidance from EHS manager perform periodic industrial hygiene, safety, and environmental sampling/testing.
