About The Position

The Environmental Health & Safety Specialist I is responsible for coordinating EHS Department metrics tracking, recordkeeping, reports, audit and training schedules and administrative operations.  Responsible for administering and implementing policies and procedures to ensure a safe and healthy work environment.  This position will support Warren Equipment Company’s goals by meeting internal and external expectations.  Work is performed under direct to general supervision and requires basic knowledge in multiple areas of EHS compliance; work is occasionally complex.

Requirements

  • Associates (A. A.) or equivalent degree in Environmental Safety, Occupational Safety and Health or related field from two-year college or technical school; OR six months to five years of safety related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education, certification, training and/or experience.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and application of city, federal, state, and company health and safety policies, procedures, regulations and training.
  • Demonstrate an understanding and application of operational processes and procedures.
  • Ability to recognize and mitigate situations which require special attention.
  • Ability to read and interpret safety data sheets.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient leadership skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate relevant safety topics across organization.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite or similar software.
  • Excellent interpersonal and relationship building with internal and external customers.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Must be highly motivated and self-directed.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer EHS background and intermediate knowledge in multiple areas of EHS compliance skill sets (e.g., OSHA, ANSI, DOT, EPA, etc.).
  • CSP or CSHO certification or other equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support EHS and Risk Management departments by conducting incident investigations, inspections and/or audits that are occasionally complex to identify hazards in compliance with all city, state, federal and company health and safety policies, procedures and/or regulations.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, state, federal and company health and safety policies, procedures and regulations. Administer and communicate company health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Conduct “root cause analysis” of safety incidents; document and report findings of investigations, inspections and audits, and facilitate incident calls.
  • Assist with the development of short-term and long-term strategies, goals and action plans.
  • Maintain awareness of latest trends, policies, regulations and best practices in-regards to safety and health.
  • Assist with implementation of new health and safety protocols to ensure compliance with regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Maintain, track and archive safety corrective plans resulting from EHS investigations and audits.
  • Responsible for providing safety training to employees to meet regulatory, company, and customer requirements.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of all employee information.
  • Assist with special projects.
