About The Position

At ULA, Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) is used as a proactive approach to ensure mission success by identifying hazards and then eliminating or controlling the identified risks.This position interacts with multiple disciplines to prepare safety documents (Mission Unique Missile System Pre-Launch Safety Packages, Range Requirements Tailoring, Non-Compliances, Failure Reports/Investigations etc.) as required to support ULA, U.S. Space Force, Range Safety, FAA, NASA, NRO, and Commercial customers. Responsible for ensuring every customer’s payload is safely integrated with the launch vehicle and meets range safety requirements. May perform audits of operational areas and reports effectiveness of EHS program. May participate in accident investigations and assists in identification of causes and preventive/corrective actions.

Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety and Health or Environmental related technical field from an accredited college or university
  • Analytical ability to evaluate, interpret, and assimilate data into useable information and provide recommendations based upon results.
  • Ability to apply corrective action tools to identify root cause and corrective actions for anomaly conditions.
  • Must be able to work around hazardous systems at the launch sites, climb stairs, and access elevated work platforms
  • The ability to work under pressure, problem-solve, communicate effectively, work and lead in a team setting, and strong interpersonal skills are required.
  • Participate in multi-discipline continuous improvement teams to improve methods and procedures.
  • Highly proficient in computer usage and MS Office applications (e.g. Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook).
  • Highly flexible in work schedule (i.e. off-shift, weekends, travel).
  • Willing to accommodate occasional TDY's at Vandenberg Space Force Base.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance is required. US Citizenship is required.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills with the ability to easily interface with peers, leaders, and customers.
