About The Position

We are recruiting for an EHS Safety/Operations Coordinator who will have single site responsibility for activities related to EHS and provide operational support at a facility in the Pasadena, Texas area of the United States. Candidates should exhibit leadership qualities in everything they do, be forward thinking, results driven, energetic, engaged, and enthusiastic about EHS. This position will focus on the Quantix SCS EHS initiatives/goals and will encompass environmental, health, and safety requirements at a packaging and warehouse facility. The EHS Safety/Operations Coordinator will work directly with the local operations team, client’s representatives, and corporate EHS to embrace our goal of ‘Zero Harm'. This position reports to the In-Plant Services Site Manager, however, will also work closely with the EHS and Corporate Compliance Teams.

Requirements

  • Supports and promotes safe practices in alignment with company commitments, policies, and compliance requirements.
  • Acts as an OSHA and EPA regulatory compliance resource.
  • Leads or participates in incident investigations (injury, property damage, near-miss, environmental deviations, etc.) and root cause analysis, and works with the facility operations team to determine appropriate corrective/preventative actions.
  • Perform risk and hazard assessments/inspections to determine employee risk/exposure and suggest/drive actions to mitigate/reduce them.
  • Perform periodic reviews of all written Work Procedures and Job Hazard Assessments, to ensure all hazards have been mitigated and task steps align with these documents.
  • Establish and drive continuous improvement in facility's safety monitoring and recordkeeping systems to ensure compliance with all Quantix SCS policies and federal regulatory requirements.
  • Assist Site Manangers and Quantix SCS Corporate EHS to evaluate and determine appropriate pro-active safety strategies for projects that may have an impact on facilities or employees.
  • Facilitate safety, health, and environmental training for all Quantix personnel at the assigned location.
  • Compile and track all documentation for compliance with all safety and environmental policies and required activities (Incident investigations, Inspection Records, Audits, JHAs, etc.).
  • Assist in driving continuous improvement in the facilities environmental monitoring and recordkeeping data management systems to ensure compliance with all Quantix SCS policies and federal, state, and local regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure the proper onsite management and offsite disposal of solid, universal, and hazardous wastes and lead the site effort to eliminate these by correcting the root causes and/or reducing wastes, reusing, and recycling various materials, if applicable.
  • Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental policies, procedures, and programs.
  • Ensure all safety, health and environmental metrics and reports are complete and communicated in a timely manner.
  • Serve as training coordinator for all EHS-related training through Sentix, and/or other computer-based training (CBT).
  • Oversee site employee progress for the Quantix SCS Safety InSight Program. Provide progress updates to Management as requested.
  • Continual improvement of Responsible Care Program and initiatives.
  • Continual improvement of our commitment to Operation Clean Sweep Blue.
  • Build strong partnerships with client’s representatives, Operations Managers and Leadership
  • Will work with the local operations team to drive application of safety procedures in the field through audits, develop and deliver safety training.
  • Conduct daily, weekly, and monthly safety checks and audits of operational processes and equipment as needed.
  • Report all safety metrics, conduct incident investigations, and drive all emergency response activities at the local site, including training and drills.
  • This role will also be required to assist operations in the packaging areas when their primary role and responsibilities have been completed, or if operations request additional support.
  • This role will be considered a Hybrid role between Safety/Operations, with all Safety related task taking priority, the EHS Safety/Operations Coordinator will not be solely used in any one of the above-mentioned job titles (Safety/Operations) but will jointly be responsible for providing the above scope of services to both Quantix as the employer and the In-Plant customer.
  • Perform other administrative duties or operational duties as required to support the local operations team.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety & Health and/or Environmental, or an OS&H associate degree with extensive EHS experience
  • 5 or more years of experience in an EHS role in an industrial setting.
  • Prior EHS Specific Training (board certifications and/or OSHA 30, 501, 511, 2045, 2255, 2455, etc.)
  • Experience in a packaging and warehouse setting
  • Behavioral Based Safety Programs Experience
  • Public speaking and/or training experience.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, training, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to Influence Internal/External Customers
  • In-Plant services work.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude, experience working on or operating equipment such as packaging machines, conveyor systems, pneumatic systems, or any type of production process equipment is preferred.
  • Demonstrated Root-Cause analysis skills (ex. 5-Why).
  • Leadership skills to direct personnel, implement initiatives, performing follow-up activities.
  • Analytical ability to assess complex situations and apply problem solving strategies.
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Teams, Planner, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook). Ability to use a variety of software applications to analyze, monitor data, create reports, and presentations.
  • In-Plant services work at facilities that produce plastic powders, flakes, and/or pellets
