About The Position

VEIR is committed to ensuring the safety of everyone who encounters both our facilities and our products, including our employees, contractors, partners, customers, and the public. As VEIR prepares for rapid growth, we will scale our Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Program to keep pace. You will develop, update, implement, and enforce Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) policies. You join VEIR’s Operations Team where you will report to VEIR’s Head of Business Operations. You will work closely with VEIR’s Project Management team, Lab Manager, Lab EHS Manager, and Operations Specialist to keep our operations safe. You will primarily work at our office located in Woburn, MA, with occasional travel required to VEIR’s project locations. The nature of this position is reactionary. When certain emergencies occur, the functions of this position may be deemed essential, and the EHS Manager may be required to work outside of normal working hours and/or remain on duty during a necessary response. In the first 3 months you'll Gain a deep understanding of VEIR’s current EHS policies Respond to safety events Build strong working relationships across with VEIR’s cross functional Project, Engineering, Product teams and learn about VEIR’s technology and novel safety considerations pertaining to its product, its superconducting technology, and data center environments. Develop guidance on how to scale VEIR’s EHS program. In the first 6 months you'll Become VEIR’s leader on all safety matters, inspiring, aligning, and leading the team to achieve shared goals. Execute scaling VEIR’s EHS plan through development of policies and standard procedures Lead continuous improvements of VEIR’s safety plan by establishing clear objectives and deliverables By the end of the first year you will have Fully develop a suite of safety policies and operations that can be quickly implemented at VEIR facilities and across all activities

Requirements

  • You have 5+ Years Experience in a Same or Similar Role
  • You have a Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Safety, Health and Safety or similar
  • You are proficient in Microsoft Office
  • You'll bring experience applying safety concepts to achieve company objectives
  • You have experience with key occupational safety regulations and standards, including state and federal OSHA, ANSI, UL, EPA, DHS and construction safety standards, with the ability to apply them in occupational/industrial settings.
  • You have working knowledge of NFPA 70 – National Electric Code, NFPA 70E – Electrical Safety in the Workplace, NFPA 75 - Standard for the Fire Protection of Information Technology Equipment is required.
  • You'll bring demonstrated experience developing best practice, as well as novel, worker safety policies, plans, and programs.
  • You have demonstrated expertise in conducting planned and ad hoc safety reviews, including real-time observations of employee work practices, to proactively identify hazards and implement corrective actions.
  • You'll bring demonstrated experience developing, reviewing site-specific safety plans, Job Hazard Analysis plans, ensuring activities are performed in alignment with alignment with regulatory requirements, resources, and risk mitigation best practices.
  • You have experience with cryogenics, high voltage, pressure-based safety requirements

  • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 Certification preferred
  • You have experience in an ISO9001 environment
  • You may have experience leveraging AI to improve organizational safety
  • You may have experience with data center safety requirements
