Our Caterpillar Remanufacturing Division currently has an opening for a EHS Manufacturing Technician I position located in the Corinth, MS facility . This position is charged with ensuring the safety of Caterpillar employees, visitors, and staff, while assuring protection of the environment and facility compliance with OSHA, and other applicable regulations. This position exhibits professionalism and customer focus to enhance the experience of those within Caterpillar by promoting a safe and secure work environment and ensuring compliance and implementation of rules and regulations that are in place for the good of the Corporation. Must be flexible in availability to work across shifts and on-call status.

Requirements

  • Basic computer skills including Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point) corporate web sites and Outlook email.
  • Valid driver’s license with no restrictions noted that would inhibit execution of noted job functions.
  • Experience with safety related policies and procedures - STOP to Fix, Safe Job procedures, Hazardous Risk Assessments, confined spaces, etc.
  • Basic mathematics literacy in arithmetic.

  • EHS Experience and / or Education
  • Written communication skills, such as writing clear and precise incident and accident reports and e-mails.
  • Verbal communication skills, such as giving clear instructions and directions to assist employees, visitors, and emergency response teams (police or fire personnel).
  • Previous completion of Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standard (HAZWOPER) certification.
  • Experience using PST and conducting Investigation Process
  • Previous or current certification of Basic First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge of basic fire fundamentals: correctly identify different classes of fires, how they can start, spread, risk and dangers involved, control and selection and use of appropriate fire extinguisher and in-house fire suppressant sprinkler systems.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for taking proactive measures to prevent environmental, health, or safety incidents, as well as responding and investigating incidents that should they arise.
  • Protect and provide safety services to individuals within Caterpillar facilities or on Caterpillar property.
  • Will be expected to complete and obtain First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Expected to learn basic fire fundamentals correctly identify different classes of fires, how they can start, spread, risk and dangers involved, control and selection and use of appropriate fire extinguisher.
  • Demonstrate ability to use radio and phone equipment for verbal communications.
  • Monitor risks and dangers involved with confined spaces, and clearing of confined spaces if a safety risk occurs.
  • Awareness lockout or tag-out procedures to de-energize all sources of energized equipment, for example, electrical, chemical, liquid, air, gases, etc.
  • Perform site assessments to ensure environmental, health, and safety adequacy.
  • Identify EHS hazards and risk and take appropriate action to remove and mitigate hazards and risks.
  • Perform inspections and audits on Processes, standard work, and PPE requirements
  • Use and Knowledge of SFEMA, EHS Audits, 5S, Ergonomic Tools and Assessments
  • Will be expected to monitor Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response Standards.
  • Travel by automobile to different Caterpillar buildings for inspections, audits, training and investigations.
  • Monitor EHS incidents, from incident, problem solving, corrective action, implementation of solutions.
  • Utilize PST and conduct investigations per process
  • Correct, or provides directions to correct, violations or risks of safety and security related policies and procedures.
  • Provide leadership and/or serve as point of contact in the event of accidents, hazards, chemical spills, etc.
  • Recognize, quarantine, and initiate Stop to Fix for Safety concerns or nonconforming behaviors to policy.
  • Conduct training materials to production employees.
  • Utilize ETQ System to view and issue Corrective Action Request.
  • Follow established and documented processes in the Caterpillar ETQ system.
  • New Hire Safety Orientations and Conduct Safety related Training
  • Apply Standard Work procedures - People, Quality, Velocity, Cost (PQVC).
  • Perform data analysis for EHS incidents, risks, hazards, etc.

  • This position is 2nd shift with an additional 7%-night shift premium
  • Work Hours: 4PM – 12AM; Monday - Friday
