EHS Manager - Night Shift

Black BoxRayville, LA
Onsite

About The Position

Black Box is expanding our national data center footprint — and we’re searching for a dynamic EHS Safety Manager who is ready to take charge in fast paced high stakes construction environments. This is a critical, onsite leadership role responsible for steering all Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) operations, building a proactive safety culture, and ensuring every project team returns home safely every day.  As part of our mobile data center workforce, you’ll complete your onboarding at our Plano, TX headquarters, then deploy to a major data center project across the U.S. to elevate safety performance, mentor teams, and represent Black Box’s uncompromising commitment to safety excellence. If you are a decisive leader, skilled communicator, and an expert in construction safety management — this is where you make your impact.

Requirements

  • Exceptional leadership, coaching, mentoring, and teambuilding abilities.
  • A deep understanding of OSHA standards, construction safety regulations, and best practices.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the presence to influence at every level — from frontline workers to senior executives.
  • Strong conflict resolution capabilities and the confidence to manage competing priorities in fast-moving environments.
  • Outstanding analytical skills, with expertise in incident investigations, RCAs, and hazard mitigation.
  • The ability to create structure, build processes, implement improvements, and drive consistent EHS performance.
  • Understanding of leading and lagging indicators, safety culture assessments, and loss run data.
  • A positive, resilient attitude — thriving under pressure and adapting with professionalism.
  • Bachelor's degree in occupational health & safety or related field.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS leadership experience in the construction industry.
  • OSHA 30 required; OSHA 500/510 strongly preferred.
  • Professional certifications required: CSP, ASP, or CHST.
  • Strong working knowledge of federal, state, and local EHS regulations.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and digital reporting systems.

Responsibilities

  • Work directly with Site Leadership daily to drive a strong safety culture and ensure full compliance with all company, customer, and regulatory standards.
  • Act as the onsite authority for EHS activities: inspections, audits, daily walks, toolbox talks, and real-time risk mitigation.
  • Maintain a visible, engaged presence — modeling what “Safety First” looks like in action.
  • Lead and mentor EHS Specialists and Safety Coordinators, including delegating tasks, scheduling, and developing talent.
  • Deliver impactful onboarding, training, and safety coaching for field staff, subcontractors, and visitors.
  • Lead incident investigations, conduct root cause analysis (RCA), and implement corrective actions.
  • Champion continuous improvement practices that reduce risk, prevent reoccurrence, and strengthen site performance.
  • Communicate with senior level EHS personnel, GC site teams, subcontractors, and client partners.
  • Manage EHS documentation, SDS inventories, metrics, and reporting cadence to the Site EHS Lead.
  • Review and refine EHS processes, procedures, and forms — ensuring projects stay aligned with required standards.
  • As a mobile workforce leader, travel to new data center locations and help accelerate the growth of Black Box’s national safety program.
  • Bring consistency, leadership, and proactive safety management to every new project site.
