About The Position

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Program Manager to oversee safety compliance, hazardous materials management, and environmental regulations at Amazon Robotics and Fulfillment Centers. This role combines strategic safety leadership with hands-on operational management to ensure workplace safety and regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent
  • Experience developing and implementing of standards, policies and programs or equivalent
  • Experience building cross-functional partnerships and influencing stakeholders across the organization to act without having a direct reporting relationship
  • Experience engaging with regulatory agencies in permit applications or equivalent
  • Experience implementing scalable compliance solutions (technology, procedures, processes, etc.) in a regulated environment
  • 5+ years of increasing responsibilities in EHS or environmental programs in R&D, manufacturing, transportation, or service operations experience
  • Deep knowledge of DOT, PHMSA, IMDG, IATA regulation and experience implementing at large scale

  • Master's degree or equivalent
  • Experience leveraging technology and implementing lean principles / Six Sigma methodologies to drive process improvements or equivalent
  • Current CSP (Certified Safety Professional), Current RCRA (Resource Conservation and Recovery Act), Department of Transportation Hazardous Materials certifications, and, DG/IATA certification

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable Amazon Safety Policies.
  • Manage compliance programs related to storage and transportation of hazardous materials, including, but not limited to lithium batteries, hazardous waste, and universal wastes.
  • Manage and prepare regulatory reporting, including, but not limited to hazardous waste manifests, OSHA logs, and Tier II submittals.
  • Measure sites’ performance against published requirements in safety policies. For all deficiencies, identify a plan for the site to implement and fix all identified deficiencies.
  • Examine metrics and review weekly and monthly incident metrics to discover trends to justify the allocation of appropriate resources to areas where the safety risk is highest.
  • Perform frequent site audits to identify all non-compliance equipment and/or processes at the site.
  • Implement solutions to eliminate exposure to these risks and prevent incidents at Amazon and communities we operate.
  • Manage database entries to ensure compliance to global regulations for dangerous good storage and transportation.
  • Audit the workplace and employee behaviors to ensure that training, auditing and scoring methods are accurate and consistent.
  • Audit 3rd party logistics providers for compliance to all Dangerous Goods and Hazardous Materials transportation regulations.
  • Ensure site employees are trained and knowledgeable in regards to their responsibilities under each policy.
  • Audit the quality, delivery (including qualifications of the trainer), and effectiveness of all required safety training.
  • Recommend process and product safety features that will reduce employees' exposure to chemical, physical, and biological work hazards.
  • Assist with the selection, inventory, and distribution of personal protective equipment and first aid supplies.
