About The Position

The EHS Coordinator is responsible for cultivating, maintaining, and leading a culture of environmental and safety compliance for all team members. The EHS Coordinator should continuously assess proactive programs and efforts designed to eliminate injuries, illnesses and environmental impacts. The EHS Coordinator will also lead employees on boarding and training efforts at the location.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED) required with at least 2 years' experience in Safety and/or Environmental.
  • Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve problems.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others.
  • Ability to lead and work effectively with people regardless of their age, gender, race, ethnicity, religion, or job type.
  • Ability to demonstrate behaviors conforming to Hoover’s set of values and accepted standards.
  • Ability to be self-motivated to perform a task using his or her own drive or initiative.
  • Be comfortable working within Windows based programs, using a word processor, and email.
  • Must have a good knowledge of spreadsheets.

Responsibilities

  • Lead EHS training programs at the plant level.
  • Lead the EHS aspects of the orientation & hands-on training program.
  • Conduct “safety walk” with new hires on their first day in the plant.
  • Assess training needs for new employees.
  • Verify all hands-on training has been completed and updated on the OSHA Refresher report.
  • Contact all new hires daily throughout their first 45 days.
  • Track, monitor, report plant injuries and illnesses.
  • Assist HR with all safety incident investigations to include root cause analysis.
  • Regularly inspect equipment, machinery, and supplies to ensure safe working conditions.
  • Develop, lead, and continuously support the Plant Safety Committee.
  • Support Corporate EHS Lead by performing, tracking and reporting all environmental requirements in a timely fashion.
  • Perform environmental inspections of the site as required to maintain compliance with all environmental rules and regulations.
  • Provide feedback and reports to Plant Leadership and Corporate contacts.
  • Computer duties as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.
