The Job: As an EHS Battery Safety Specialist here, you’ll be part of our Towson EHS team working as an onsite employee. You’ll get to: Develop battery safety programs and requirements related to research, new product development (NPD) and compliance testing for Towson Labs in accordance with the SBD Battery Safety Playbook and regulatory requirements. Serve as the Towson EHS Team’s representative in partnering with test, engineering, and compliance teams to integrate engineering controls into existing processes and facilities. Participate in all battery testing safety reviews. Perform Risk assessment analysis on all aspects of battery testing on the site. Participate in incident investigation associated with battery related events. Conduct fire and life safety audits of new and existing battery areas and work with Engineering and Facilities to maintain NFPA compliance and best battery safety practices which include presenting findings to site management, including any related FM Global related requirements. Conduct Battery Safety training, Labhood safe use training, etc. Be a member of the Battery Emergency Response Team, participate in the emergency preparedness and be one of the first responding to an incident. Be responsible for all battery recycling for the Towson, Mylander & White Marsh Sites, including development of the appropriate protocols to safely discharge batteries in preparation for disposal. Function as Site Lithium battery transportation expert, maintain lithium-ion Battery, Hazardous Materials Dangerous Goods Transportation procedures and training programs for the Towson Sites. Maintain and recommend battery storage programs on the Towson and Mylander Sites, including selecting and construction cell block recycling cabinets, completing inspections to verify compliance and performing audits to identify gaps.
