Responsibilities Under direction the EHR Support Specialist will be responsible for the basic tasks with testing, training, and support of the electronic medical record (EMR) system. The EHR Support Specialist position is designed for specialists to learn the system, the implementation process, and necessary tasks of being a Support Specialist for Prime IT. The EHR Support Specialist will serve as a first point of contact to report issues and concerns, and initial triage and basic support of EHR functions. The EHR Support Specialist serves as a way to provide clinical experience to analysts and technicians who have an IT background but lacking clinical background, as well as providing IT background but lacking clinical background.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Healthcare, Nursing, Business or Computer/Information Sciences OR an equivalent level of professional experience
  • Strong computer skills including Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, Visio, and PowerPoint
  • Understanding of the maintenance and support of Electronic Medical Record systems.
  • IT or operational knowledge of clinical or revenue cycle processes in one or more areas of a hospital, clinic, or business office
  • Technical expertise in subject matter areas demonstrated by documented experience in analysis, process design and workflow, research, and support of EMR systems.
  • Ability to independently prioritize work assignments, meet deadlines and manage multiple projects and/or priorities.
  • Knowledge of IT infrastructure and support teams.
  • Able to provide tier 1 support for technical issues outside of EHR or clinical applications.
  • Able to teach and coach fellow support analysts and technicians on common issues and resolutions.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills
  • Professional etiquette and customer service oriented
  • Able to provide support to facilities on holidays, nights, and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year industry related experience in IT/Clinical setting or within applicable area in healthcare operations, preferred.
  • Prior experience in EMR support or technical support is preferred.
