POSITION SUMMARY The EHR Specialist will work with CCHS’s providers and staff at our medical and dental clinics under the general direction of the Director of Information Systems. The specialist will be an integral part of the implementation of eClinicalworks (eCW). This person will be responsible for training new and existing providers and staff in efficient use of the EHR. The specialist will also be responsible for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting provider services for Meaningful Use. This person will serve as a point person for interacting with eCW and Dentrix for technical issues, upgrades, and advanced features.

Requirements

  • AAS degree in Health Information Management, Health Information Technology, Information Systems, or related field required.
  • Two to four years working of relevant experience in a healthcare setting is required.
  • Must have knowledge of business concepts and their effect on organizational decision making.
  • Must be comfortable teaching individuals and large groups.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • An understanding of Medical Billing and Coding (ICD-9, ICD-10, CPTs, HCPCA, Allowed Fees, Billed Fees, Contractual Adjustments, HMOs, PPS Wraparound, etc.) preferred.
  • Experience with eClinicalworks is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • This includes setup, training, understanding workflows at the clinics, and creating standard templates for the entire organization.
  • Assist as needed in the conversion from e-MDs (the current EHR) to eCW.
  • Train new and existing providers and staff in the use of eCW and Dentrix. This includes one-on-one training, classroom training, and creating online tutorials.
  • Proactively research and develop creative solutions for eCW, other systems and software obstacles that occur. Create test scenarios for systems, execute these tests and evaluate and implement results. Take corrective action when necessary.
  • Coordinates the acquisition and implementation of additional clinical or practice management software.
  • Develop policies and procedures for eCW and Dentrix system users. Develop and present training and technical literature as needed.
  • Regularly visit clinics to provide on-site observation, support, and troubleshooting for general clinic operations and specific EHR related issues.
  • Monitor regular reports to ensure they are running properly.
  • Collect, prepare, and submit data for Meaningful Use.
  • Assist physicians and other medical providers with the creation and editing of templates and other tools for the EHR.
  • Assist staff in using the reporting capabilities available within eClinicalworks.
  • Work with various teams to complete projects as needed.
  • Perform other duties as required.
