HealthFirst Family Care Center, a Certified Great Place to Work and wonderful place to make a difference, is seeking an EMR Application Specialist to join our team of mission-minded professionals to "own" everything EMR on-site in three locations at our New Hampshire community health center. JOB SUMMARY: This position will provide training and technical support to staff who utilize EHR applications. The scope of the Application Specialist responsibilities varies. In some cases, the focus is solely on the end user’s computer. In other cases, the focus can be on communicating with the EHR administrator to identify the cause of errors or outages. Working with applications that integrate with the EHR, including voice recognition dictation devices and remote monitoring devices, will be required. Troubleshooting, sharing best practices, and training are all critical aspects to this position. The Application Specialist will work on-site full-time, Monday-Friday, out of one of our New Hampshire locations.

Requirements

  • Associates Degree in Health Information Management and/or Registered Health Information Technician designation and a minimum two years in healthcare office environment; or an equivalent combination of demonstrated comprehensive knowledge and years of healthcare office experience in lieu of education.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, with knowledge of Practice Management and Electronic Health Record systems, preference given to AthenaOne knowledge.
  • Diagnose and resolve technical issues
  • Strong drive to provide excellent customer service and experience, and the ability to prioritize tasks
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to train both large groups and one on one
  • Advanced knowledge of EHR platforms
  • Must have a Valid Driver’s License
  • Must have a Vehicle to travel between our multiple facilities when needed. Mileage is paid when driving between offices.

Responsibilities

  • Provides onsite training and support to all staff who utilize the EHR, at the time of implementation, upgrades, orientation, and as needed for additional support. Works fluently with all levels within the organization.
  • Creates and delivers presentation-style trainings to groups of people, including at department and provider meetings.
  • Creates and maintains all EMR workflows and training plans for health center staff
  • Manage help desk requests related to EMR needs, reports and open support tickets with CHAN as needed until resolution of issue is resolved.
  • Manage all current and future interfaces such as remote monitoring devices
  • Update and maintain the EMR daily. Common task include letter creating and updates, appointment book edit and updates, adding and updating appointment types, customize templates, and working with CHAN to ensure updates are working effectively ie: medication updates, custom list updates, flow sheet updates.
  • Serves as the subject matter expert by providing Level 1 support for EHR application issues; troubleshoots issues, find fixes, and provide end user updates with resolutions.
  • Work closely with all staff to improve system use, setup and verify efficiency of the system.
  • Discover issues and get suggestions for improvements for application utilization, feedback would be collected from end users and managers.
  • Acts as a liaison between HealthFirst staff and CHAN, the EHR administrator.
  • Pulling and disseminating reports for all population health needs, UDS and facilitating new requests for EMR content to meet reporting requirements
  • Performs testing after EHR upgrades, updates, and as needed to ensure system is performing appropriately
  • Manage vendor relationships with Athena, CHAN, C-Speak, and Quest Lab.
  • Learns new EHR applications as required
  • Protects the confidentiality of patient medical records
  • Attends job specific meetings as required
  • Demonstrates excellent critical thinking skills by quickly assessing new situations and developing appropriate solutions to the problem
