About The Position

MACOM designs and manufactures semiconductor products for Data Centers, Telecommunication, Industrial and Defense applications. The focus of this position is to develop and maintain sustainable Environmental, Health and Safety policies, procedures, and programs that ensure operational compliance with company, customer, and global governmental EHS rules and regulations.The primary objectives are to protect employees, customers and the environment by identifying, controlling or eliminating risks and hazards that could cause injury and illness or cause harm to the environment. The primary responsibilities of the EHS Engineer are to oversee, support, and ensure compliance with environmental, and occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and standards applicable to MACOM’s operations in California, Oregon, Arizona, and Texas.

Requirements

  • Superior communications, interpersonal, and organizational skills required
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications and database applications (SAP a plus)
  • Minimum of 5 years related experience
  • Extensive knowledge of environmental health and safety regulations and policies
  • Experience with EHS regulatory agencies; e.g. EPA, OSHA, AQMD, CAL/OSHA.
  • Experience with hazardous materials (dangerous goods); includes storage and shipping
  • Experience with dangerous substances; includes gases, solids, and liquids
  • Experience in hazardous waste management and wastewater treatment
  • Superior written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Bachelor of Science Degree in the Environmental Health or Safety or related field.

  • CIH, CSP, equivalent professional certification is an advantage

Responsibilities

  • Plan, review and update environmental health and safety policies and procedures in accordance with all Federal, State, and local government regulations as well as company and customer standards.
  • Work to maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable federal, state, and municipal guidelines with a specific focus on the Semiconductor business
  • Support the development and sustaining of the EHS Management System for multiple sites in the US, with a focus on CA, OR, AZ, and TX.
  • Lead the companies Injury Illness Prevention Program Committee
  • Lead the Emergency Response Team for sites in CA, OR, AZ, and TX.
  • Conduct EHS audits on a recurring basis with an emphasis on critical areas of operations, e.g. hazardous gas bunkers, hydrogen storage, toxic gas monitoring and delivery, wastewater treatment, fire protection, life safety systems, chemical & flammable handling, and storage. Identify EHS issues and recommend corrective action where environmental health and safety hazards exist.Maintain hazard communication programs, Safety Data Sheets, and chemical inventory information.
  • Gather data to assist with filling of site-specific regulatory permits: Storm Water, Air, Waste, Waste-Water Treatment, Fire safety, and operating permits. Gather information and assist with US environmental reporting requirements documented in the EHS Management program.
  • Oversee Occupational Health and Industrial Hygiene programs
  • Assist in the development, maintenance and reporting of EHS training.
  • Conduct job hazard analyses and personal protective equipment reviews and assessments.
  • Maintain hazard communication programs, Safety Data Sheets, and chemical inventory information
  • Support the certified ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 program and its associated reporting requirements.Work with Quality Control to obtain IATF 16949 and AS9100 certification
  • Maintain and manage Laser and Radiation safety programs.
  • Support Workers Compensation claims to include investigations and case management.
  • Provide technical guidance or advice to employees, supervisors, and managers on various EHS compliance requirements.
  • Support other MACOM sites on EHS as directed by the Senior EHS Manager.
