About The Position

The EH&S Assistant supports the Environmental, Health & Safety function in a boat manufacturing environment, assisting with safety, environmental, and compliance activities across production, lamination, assembly, paint/gel coat, and yard operations. This role helps ensure compliance with OSHA and EPA requirements while promoting a strong safety culture focused on injury prevention, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1–3 years of experience in EH&S, manufacturing support, or industrial operations preferred
  • Basic knowledge of OSHA safety standards and environmental compliance principles
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
  • Ability to work effectively on the production floor and in an office setting
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree or coursework in Safety, Environmental Science, Industrial Technology, or related field
  • Experience in boat, marine, fiberglass, or composite manufacturing
  • Familiarity with chemical handling, hazardous waste management, and environmental inspections
  • OSHA 10‑Hour or 30‑Hour certification (or willingness to obtain)

Responsibilities

  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of EH&S programs specific to boat manufacturing, including hazard communication, PPE, lockout/tagout, confined space, and hot work
  • Conduct routine safety inspections of production areas (lamination, assembly, gel coat/paint, storage yards) and track corrective actions
  • Assist with incident, injury, and near‑miss investigations, including documentation and follow‑up
  • Support job safety analyses (JSAs) and task‑based risk assessments for manufacturing operations
  • Help coordinate and track safety training (forklift, respirator use, confined space, PPE, fire extinguisher, chemical handling)
  • Support environmental programs related to fiberglass resins, gel coats, solvents, styrene exposure, hazardous waste, and chemical storage
  • Assist with hazardous waste labeling, storage inspections, manifests, and disposal coordination
  • Support stormwater pollution prevention (SWPPP), spill prevention (SPCC), and spill response readiness
  • Assist with air, waste, and environmental recordkeeping required for EPA and state compliance
  • Maintain EH&S records including OSHA 300/300A logs, training records, inspections, and permits
  • Prepare reports, dashboards, and summaries related to safety metrics and environmental compliance
  • Order and manage PPE and safety supplies appropriate for marine manufacturing operations
  • Provide general administrative and field support to the EH&S team
