About The Position

Introduction The Department of Budget and Management (DBM), Office of the Statewide EEO Coordinator is seeking an individual to serve as an EEO Compliance Officer. The ideal candidate for this position must be knowledgeable of federal and state civil rights laws; experienced conducting workplace investigations; writing clear and concise reports and staying abreast of EEO legal updates and industry trends to maintain program compliance. Furthermore, the candidate selected for this position must be professional, possess great intergrity, be a self-starter, have excelent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, and can multi-task and work independently and as a part of a team. GRADE 18 LOCATION OF POSITION Office of the Statewide EEO Coordinator 301 W. Preston Street Baltimore, MD 21201

Requirements

  • Education : Graduation from an accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.
  • Experience : Six years of administrative staff or professional work.
  • Candidates may substitute 30 college credit hours from an accredited college or university for each year up to four years of the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university and two years of experience in administrative staff or professional work for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute the possession of a Master's degree from an accredited college or university for the required experience.
  • Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as a commissioned officer involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policy, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant to a higher ranking commissioned officer on a year-for-year basis for the required experience.
  • Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

Nice To Haves

  • Five years of experience as an EEO professional, conducting workplace investigations.
  • Two to four years of experience designing, developing and facilitating civil rights trainings.
  • Two to four years of experience working independently on projects.

Responsibilities

  • The incumbent will serve as the Department of Budget and Management, Office of the Statewide EEO Coordinator’s EEO Compliance Officer.
  • The incumbent is responsible for interpreting State equal employment opportunity laws, regulations and policies; investigating whistleblower complaints; conducting appeal reviews; assisting the Statewide EEO Coordinator and Sr. EEO Compliance Officer with agency audit compliance reviews; facilitating training and working on special projects as assigned.
