Overview Works under the supervision of a physician or manager for neurodiagnostic services. Conducts electroencephalographic (EEG) exams as ordered by a physician. Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patient served. Follows guidelines for proper body mechanics, hazardous materials handling, and, standard precautions. Maintains a safe work area. What you will do Utilizes various machines to monitor a patient's nervous system. Completes a thorough neurophysiologic assessment for assigned patients. Evaluates care and documents such in the patient’s medical record. Educates patients/families regarding the procedure and/or treatment to be performed. Positions the patient, applies electrodes and completes the exam/study. Observes, measures, and records the electrical activity and brain wave patterns using an encephalograph. Monitors patients during sleep cycles to diagnose sleep disorders.
