About The Position

Cleveland Clinic Health System is seeking an EEG (Electroencephalogram) Technologist Apprentice to join their team at Akron General Hospital. This role is part of a one-year apprenticeship program designed to train aspiring individuals for a successful healthcare career within the Epilepsy Center. The apprentice will function as a trainee under the direct supervision of the Clinical Manager, learning to perform electroencephalographic examinations and epilepsy monitoring by following established policies and procedures. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Knowledge of physical and biological sciences normally attained through high school course work with emphasis in those areas
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification through the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross within one month of hire
  • Six months of direct patient care experience or one year post-secondary education

Responsibilities

  • Apply suitable electrodes on predetermined measured positions, respiration monitors and EKG, select appropriate montages
  • Calibrate and adjusts equipment
  • Observe patients with video and digital recording equipment; ensure EEG and tape are lined up exactly; check focus, lighting and microphone
  • Abstract relevant patient information from clinical record and obtains additional information by questioning
