About The Position

Assistant Manager, EEG will primarily function both as a people leader and as a clinical care provider. Assistant Manager will develop, implement, and oversee clinical processes, provide clinical services, and lead others in providing clinical services through EEG studies including patient set ups and remote EEG monitoring (from in-home and/or in office workspace). Through a HIPAA compliant remote connection, Manager will access live and retrospective patient studies to assess test integrity, annotate requisite information per CMS guidelines, detect and document EEG abnormalities, troubleshoot technical issues, and maintain open dialogue with interpreting neurologists as necessary. The Manager will monitor multiple (up to 12) concurrent studies as the primary function of their daily workload initially, while also working to build out new business infrastructure and systems. As needed, Manager will set up patients with a standard 16-channel EEG either in office, in hospital/healthcare facility, or within actual patient homes utilizing the international 10-20 system. Manager may be tasked with unhooking patients after the conclusion of their studies as well. The Manager will be responsible for identifying and relaying technical issues and contributing to the solution. Clinically, this may require a visit to the patient in their home to correct any technical issues. Manager will be required to edit, clip, prune, and save EEG studies within patient EMR and maintain correspondence with interpreting neurologists regarding study interpretation and referring physician follow-up. Assistant Manager is responsible for clinical oversight of all technologist’s general maintenance of credentialing, facility contracting, customer satisfaction as well as study coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 3 year experience in the field
  • Working knowledge of anatomy, physiology, and pathophysiology as it relates to EEG
  • Must have a secure HIPAA compliant workspace that is free from unauthorized viewing
  • Must have a reliable internet connection and backup
  • Must be able to work 12 hour shifts
  • Must be able to operate, store, and maintain EEG equipment as necessary
  • Must maintain an appropriate supply inventory sufficient to conduct multiple EEG setups if necessary
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office
  • Must have a valid driver’s license
  • Must be able to move and lift up to 50lbs
  • Must be able to stand, kneel, and stoop as needed
  • Must be able to sit for long periods of time
  • Must be able to type at least 45 words per minute for the purposes of data entry
  • Certification by ABRET REEGT or CLTM required.
  • Must hold a valid driver’s license and maintain state required auto insurance.
  • Minimum of Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Must maintain current AHA CPR certification.

Responsibilities

  • Primarily responsible for remotely monitoring patient EEG studies in real time (up to 12 concurrent studies).
  • As needed, will hook up a patient and begin EEG testing either in a physician office or in a patient’s actual residence.
  • As needed, will unhook a patient at the conclusion of their EEG study.
  • As needed, will assess and, if needed, travel to a patient’s residence in order to restore EEG study integrity.
  • Must be proficient in pattern recognition and have demonstrate the ability to recognize abnormal versus normal EEG variants for neonatal, pediatric, and adult population demographics.
  • Demonstrate working knowledge with Lifelines EEG equipment as well as other major manufacturers (Cadwell, Nihon Kohden, Xltek etc.)
  • Must have proficiency in assessment and documentation of patient seizure semiology.
  • Must be able to maintain professional communication with patients, families, and medical staff.
  • Must be technically proficient and have good computer skills.
  • Must be able to work independently with little to no supervision.
  • Must be able to perform a routine EEG if necessaryAll work will be remote unless working in a demographic the company is servicing. Travel for hook ups and takedowns will be limited to local territory only. Travel outside of home territory may be necessary on occasion Travel arrangements are made in accordance with T & E Policy.
  • Business and Relationship Development
  • Research EEG active territories and learn the neurologists are in need of or would benefit from EEG services for their patients. Partner with leadership to introduce MPOWERHealth to them as a clinical service provider.
  • Contact neurologists and their office to request introductory meetings.
  • Focus on developing productive relationships with Surgeons, their offices, OR Staff, and Hospital admin.
  • Clear and consistent communication with the above mentioned people.
  • Study Coverage
  • Ensure all studies are covered.
  • Create and maintain an on-call/study rotation.
  • Manage on-call schedule.
  • Know all Technologists credentialed at each of your hospitals, organize and communicate this information clearly.
  • Scheduling
  • Ensure studies are entered into USMON and or verify studies entered have been entered correctly.
  • Ensure proper documentation has been uploaded for each study at the time of scheduling; need to collect Surgeon Rx form and completed face sheet from offices (face sheet needs to have insurance information included).
  • Confirm the following week’s schedule with offices.
  • Assign technologists and neurologists to cases.
  • Auditing and Quality Assurance
  • Ensure study audits on completed cases in your territory weekly.
  • Oversee the quality assurance processes to include creation of process, implementation of the process, and follow through to completion on a weekly and quarterly basis.
  • Credentialing
  • Communicate frequently with credentialing coordinator the needs of the territory as you grow and add new facilities.
  • Be available to assist credentialing coordinator in any way to ensure timely credentialing.
  • Hospital Contracting
  • Communicate frequently with director of new contracts to be established at new facilities.
  • Perform weekly follow-ups on hospital contract status with director of new contracts.
  • Ensure new contracts are entered into USMON and techs are informed to submit those POR’s at the end of surgery.
  • Supplies
  • Make sure techs are placing supply orders correctly.
  • Monitor supplies are used and order, and that supplies aren’t wasted.
  • Hospital Payments
  • Keep in touch with internal AP department and offer assistance with hospitals withholding payments.
