About The Position

The Educational Technology Specialist supports the operational delivery of high-quality online learning experiences through hands-on course building, academic term preparation, and instructional technology support. This role focuses on executing established LMS workflows, ensuring course readiness and functionality, and providing timely technical assistance to faculty and staff in alignment with institutional standards. This position is hybrid with onsite expectations of 2 days minimum per quarter.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in instructional technology, educational technology, information systems, education, or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2-4 years’ experience working within a Learning Management System (Canvas preferred) in a higher education or training environment.
  • Experience building, maintaining, or supporting online or hybrid courses.
  • Strong technical troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced academic environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting academic term preparation or large-scale course rollouts.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (e.g., WCAG) and quality assurance practices.
  • Experience providing technical support to faculty or instructional staff.
  • Familiarity with LMS integrations, video conferencing tools, and educational technology platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Build, configure, and maintain courses in the Learning Management System (LMS) based on approved course designs and established standards.
  • Execute academic term preparation activities, including course shell updates, link validation, due date alignment, Zoom integration, accessibility checks, and general course cleanup.
  • Perform quality assurance reviews to ensure courses are accurate, accessible, and functional prior to launch.
  • Respond to and resolve instructional technology support cases submitted by faculty, staff, and students; escalate complex issues as appropriate.
  • Troubleshoot LMS and third-party tool integrations in collaboration with the Instructional Technology Specialist and LMS Administrator.
  • Maintain documentation, templates, and standard operating procedures related to course builds and LMS workflows.
  • Provide timely, on-demand technical guidance to faculty on course tools, navigation, and instructional technology features.
  • Support LMS updates, testing, and operational continuity as directed.
