About The Position

Pilgrim Area Collaborative is a public educational collaborative that serves students with a wide range of disabilities from primary through post-secondary levels from all over the South Shore. We have an immediate need for full-time Educational Support Professionals (ESP) at our Pilgrim Academy location. Well-qualified candidates will have experience with students dealing with social emotional disabilities and/or high functioning ASD. This is a full-time position to start immediately.

Responsibilities

  • Work on educational tasks with one or more students as designated by the supervising teacher.
  • Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students to ensure their safety.
  • Implement behavior programs with students at the direction of supervising teacher. This may entail physical restraints and/or physical escorts.
  • Attend mandatory Restraint Training on an annual basis.
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks.
  • Support students in grooming, toileting, eating and/or self-care skills, as necessary.
  • Lift and position physically involved students.
  • Implement routine therapy programs as assigned by Physical/Occupational/Speech-Language/Behavior Therapist(s) and/or Adjustment Counselors.
  • Correct student work which is objective in nature.
  • Provide supervision of students during instructional activities, transitional periods including recess and lunch.
  • Meet assigned students in the morning and oversee their departure in the afternoon.
  • Maintain confidentiality of student records and student information.
  • Establish and maintain appropriate and cooperative relationships with PAC staff as well as any other staff of the building in which the program is located.
  • Adhere to the rules of the PAC facility or host school.
  • Accept work assignments with any student in the classroom.
  • Assist supervising teacher in taking and recording student attendance and data collection.
  • Assist supervising teacher in setting and maintaining reasonable standards of classroom behavior.
  • Assist supervising teacher in recording relevant data on student performance and student behavior.
  • Report all student accidents and misbehavior to the classroom teacher.
  • Assist the supervising teacher in collecting, obtaining, and developing individualized classroom materials which will be used for educational development and the enrichment of the classroom.
  • Meet with classroom teacher/team as needed during work hours to discuss programming, classroom schedule, and behavioral management issues.
  • Participate in mandatory professional development opportunities.
  • Perform administrative/classroom duties as requested by supervising teacher.
  • All other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Program Director and/or Executive Director.
