About The Position
The McKay School of Education at Brigham Young University invites applications for a Continuing Faculty Status track (tenure track equivalent) professional faculty position in the department of Educational Leadership and Foundations (EDLF) beginning August 1, 2026. Starting rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience. Our mission is to expand education vision and empower educational leaders to improve practices, policies, and systems that create high-quality and equitable learning environments, by developing students' knowledge, skills, and dispositions in a faith-based, intellectually rigorous, and inspiring learning environment, collaborating with and supporting current educational leaders, and producing high-quality scholarship by study and by faith. The EDLF Department offers the following degree programs: MEd in School Leadership EdD in Educational Leadership PhD in Educational Inquiry, Measurement, and Evaluation
Requirements
- Ph.D. or Ed.D. in Educational Leadership or a related field The required degree must be completed by the start date.
- Demonstrated excellence as a K-12 school principal (3+ years)
- Demonstrated excellence or clear potential in teaching graduate-level courses in school leadership (e.g., instructional leadership, philosophy and ethical school leadership, human and resource management, ethical issues, principalship roles, improving teaching and learning)
- Demonstrated ability to effectively teach diverse learners, representing unique needs, interests, and fields of study
- Demonstrated excellence or clear potential in mentoring and advising graduate students toward professional licensure in school administration
- Ability to work on a team and collaborate with faculty in a higher education academic unit
Nice To Haves
- Demonstrated excellence in upper-level / district K-12 leadership (3+ years)
- Experience working with research-practice partnerships between universities and K-12 schools
- Experience planning large-scale training and professional development events
- Experience effectively leading professional learning communities
- Experience working with the BYU-Public School Partnership beliefs and commitments
