Educational/develop Asst - Murdoch Developmental Center
About The Position
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) is one of the largest, most complex agencies in the state, and has approximately 17,000 employees. It is responsible for ensuring the health, safety, and well-being of all North Carolinians, providing human service needs for special populations including individuals who are deaf, blind, developmentally disabled, and mentally ill, and helping poor North Carolinians achieve economic independence. The EDA also serves as an integral participant in the team process. This position serves in a building of 48 intellectually disabled adults, many of whom have a number of health related illness or other co-existing diagnoses. A scheduled day includes classroom time that is specifically designed to meet each individual's programmatic needs as outlined in his/her Person Centered Plan. This role is responsible for adhering to each person's plan and prescriptive guidelines to staff, health care considerations, formal and informal behavioral plans, supervision guidelines, etc. This position works with multiple individuals in and outside of the classroom to ensure individual's overall well-being, health and safety. ALL employees of Murdoch Center are designated as ESSENTIAL for adverse weather and emergency events.
Requirements
- Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement.
- High school or General Educational Development (GED) diploma and one year of experience working with students in an educational environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The applicant will be required to successfully complete the Murdoch Developmental Center “Basic Training Series”; which includes, but is not limited to program library training, First Aid, Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Techniques (NVCI), CPR, Body Mechanics and lifting.
- Applicants must have the ability to pass a physical requirements test.
- To be considered for employment, you must be in good standing with the North Carolina Health Care Personnel Registry.
- All employees are required to adhere to the facility's Vaccination Policy.

- Work experience in basic knowledge/skills of providing direct care which may include but is not limited to training Individuals in activities of daily living.
