Pacific Whale Foundation is a nonprofit organization focused on conservation, outreach, research and education to protect the ocean and its inhabitants. Our mission is to protect the ocean through science and advocacy and inspire environmental stewardship. We work to inspire our local and global communities to care for the ocean and take action to protect our natural world. As an intern, you will assist in this mission. Working with the Education team, you will gain invaluable experience in the marine conservation and education field. Through your internship, you will have the opportunity to learn about STEM teaching methods, gain insight into classroom management, create your own educational content, teach marine science content, and so much more. You will be a member of the team and treated with the same respect as any other team member. We value your input and efforts to support our education programs. The Education Intern works at the direction of the Education Manager to assist in delivering summer Education programs. This position is also responsible for shared duties within the department including program delivery, program material preparation, curriculum development, supply maintenance, and assisting with classroom management. This is a full-time internship for 35-40 hours a week at a pay rate of $350 a week for 10 weeks. As an intern, we support you as you invest in our programs. Leaving this internship, you will have gained skills in science communication, classroom management, aiding in creating a safe, inclusive camp environment, taught marine science and environmental education lessons along with created some of those lessons yourself. You will be trained in First Aid with further safety and abuse prevention training. You will have positively impacted over 100 students this summer and helped them learn more about the world around them. We hope you leave this experience having learned skills to start a career in educating students and have inspired some of those kids along the way.
