About The Position

Reporting to the Student Support Director, the Education Specialist Lead will be responsible for supporting all education specialists across the iLEAD schools, in conjunction with the school site directors, to ensure learners with IEPs have compliant IEPs and appropriate implementation of services.

Requirements

  • Current CA mild to moderate or extensive needs special education credential
  • Five years of related experience.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, both written and verbal.
  • Positive attitude and professional demeanor.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with learners, parents, personnel and community
  • Experience in educating students with special needs.
  • Proven effective classroom and student behavior management skills.
  • Knowledge of current special education practices and methodologies.
  • Knowledge and understanding of state, local and federal regulations and policies affecting special education.
  • Knowledge of educational technology applications.
  • Excellent Oral, Written and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, assess priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with a diverse group of individuals including learners, parents, staff, and the community.
  • Experience with an education setting and/or real world experience in being non-traditional, flexible, open-minded, and collaborative.

Responsibilities

  • Support Education Specialists & caseloads across all programs.
  • Weekly department meetings and information dissemination to update student support staff on necessary information to maintain compliance and appropriate support of their learners.
  • Serve as administrative designee on IEPs.
  • Conduct compliance checks on IEPs across all sites for accuracy and completion.
  • Support on challenging cases, in collaboration with site directors.
  • Consult with education specialists to support in goal writing and IEP writing as needed.
  • Maintain weekly office hours.
  • Support in SST process as needed.
  • Support and coordinate all moderate to severe education specialist services/schedules across all sites.
  • Supports education specialists and point of contacts across all programs.
  • Develop and maintain community provider lists across all programs.
  • Develop and support maintenance of process for transition services.
  • Develop and conduct education specialist training across all programs.
  • Support in onboarding and training of new education specialists.
  • Develop and conduct training to support all school site staff in special education procedures.
  • Support with CAA  (california alternate assessment) process.
  • Support with academic assessments for moderate to severe learners(e.g., work with psychs to determine appropriate testing).
  • Help to develop a moderate to severe learner MD  report template.
  • Support on legal cases/mediation as needed.
  • Participate on MTSS as needed.
  • Attend mandatory conferences.
  • Site visits are required and determined by your  supervisor.
  • Collaboration with school attorneys and SELPA as needed under the guidance of the Director of Special Education.
  • Support site directors in performance reviews for education specialists as needed.
  • Be available to answer questions from parents, related service providers, Educational Facilitators, and Educational Specialists.
  • Attend workshops and trainings to support professional development/growth.
  • Maintain CA special education credential.
