About The Position

Bay Cove Human Services’ mission is to partner with people to overcome challenges and realize personal potential. Bay Cove pursues this mission by providing individualized and compassionate services to people facing the challenges associated with developmental disabilities, mental illness, substance use disorders, and homelessness at more than 175 program sites throughout Greater Boston and Southeastern Massachusetts. Job Summary: As an Education & Employment Coordinator you will work closely with our clubhouse members, who are adults living with the impact of mental health challenges, to ensure they are supported with achieving their educational and career goals. This is a non-exempt position.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and collaboratively with a culturally diverse population of individuals, co-workers, care providers, family and community members
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and within a team
  • Ability to function under pressure in a fast-paced human service environment which sometimes involves resolving differences
  • Professional level of written and verbal communication skills, as well as computer skills
  • Certification in CPR, SFA, and MANDT will be required once in the position, but please note you can receive these trainings as a Bay Cove employee at no charge
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and one-year previous work experience in a human service setting is preferred

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience working with adult community members to help them achieve their career and educational goals is preferred
  • Driver’s license is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assist members with finding employment, this may include training in interview skills, resume building, on the job training, and acting as a liaison with community partners
  • Network with local businesses as potential employers
  • Work with members who are not sure what their goals are just yet, and help them explore possible paths so you can work together to create new goals
  • Provide workshops to members, social activities, and educational resources
  • Assesses individual’s training needs, develops descriptive teaching programs and curricula while monitoring effectiveness through data collection
  • Work with members who have educational goals they are looking to achieve, this could include support with contacting local schools, helping with financial aid systems such as FAFSA, and working with community partners such as Mass-Ability for employment and educational resources.
  • Understand the community we support and protect their rights, dignity, and confidentiality while being supported to achieve their goals
  • Participates in the direct implementation of the members Action Plan goals, records data related to the Action Plan.
  • Maintains informal and formal communications with all program support staff and provides written communications at the end of each work day including progress notes, data sheets, production paperwork and incident reports as required.
  • Read and respond to email communication on a daily basis.
  • Performs other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Follow and implement all program safety procedures
  • Understand that some program maintenance will be involved such as cleaning tasks
  • Ability to assist people with mobility impairments as needed
