About The Position

The Education Coordinator supports the implementation and delivery of education programs for pre-analytic specimen processing staff. This role is hands-on and operational, focusing on training execution, documentation, and staff support. This position will support all areas of operations including: Dock, Accessioning, Liquid Handling, Specimen Distribution, Mayo Lab Inquiry, Inventory, Global Logistics and partnering closely with Quality. Key Responsibilities Deliver classroom, virtual, and hands-on training for pre-analytic workflows Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new specimen processing staff Assist with development and updating of training materials, SOPs, and job aids Track training completion, competencies, and continuing education requirements Coordinate competency assessments and assist with remediation plans Support staff education during workflow changes, new test launches, or system updates Serve as an educational resource for specimen processing staff and leaders Maintain accurate training records Assist with audit preparation and documentation related to training compliance Collect feedback and report training effectiveness to Leadership This position is not eligible for visa sponsorship. Also, Mayo Clinic DOES NOT participate in the F-1 STEM OPT extension program Individuals hired to this position are required to complete 2 years in the role before being eligible to transfer to other positions within Mayo Clinic

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in clinical/medical laboratory science (CLS/MLS), medical technology (MT), chemistry, a biological science from an accredited institution, or bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in addition to a certificate in MLS. In histopathology or non-testing laboratories, bachelor's degree with laboratory certification if applicable.
  • Six years of relevant laboratory experience; or a Master's degree from an accredited institution in chemical, physical, biological, clinical laboratory science or medical technology and four years of relevant laboratory experience.
  • A HEW certificate may be substituted for the specified degree.
  • Prior experience in teaching, training and mentoring students and employees in the program field.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills
  • Experience with learning management systems (LMS) preferred
  • Ability to train diverse audiences and learning styles
  • Timely completion of onboarding and competencies
  • Accuracy of training documentation
  • Staff feedback, training satisfaction, and retention
  • Support of quality and compliance goals
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate effectively (written and verbal), strong organizational skills and self-initiative; patience and the ability to effectively coach and mentor others.
  • Experience in developing education and training programs is preferred.
  • Experience with data collection, organization, analysis, and delivery of information.

  • Foreign trained lab personnel to provide a detailed equivalency evaluation to include US equivalent degree at the applicant's expense.
