To oversee the educational component of all Early Education programs including Head Start, Day Care & School Readiness to ensure that Head Start and early childhood licensing requirements are met.
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education with 5+ years of experience.
Minimum of 2 years supervisory experience in early childhood setting.
Must have thorough understanding of early childhood development and special needs.
Knowledge of state licensing standards, Head Start performance standards, School Readiness, accreditation etc., basic computer skills.
Ability to occasionally lift and carry children weiging up to 50 lbs., the use of arms, hands, legs and feet with or without corrective devised to accomplish the job including evacuatin of the building during emergencies.
Ability to kneel, bend and sit while interacting with children at floor level.
Abiltiy to sit and work at computer.
Ability to function within guidelines of Agency’s core values, identification with Agency mission, ability to build consensus and motivate employees.
Responsibilities
Monitor all Early Education programs to provide support and supervision to education staff including:
Conduct regular monitoring observations in each classroom and submit reports
Collect & review all lesson plans and report on compliance
Assist in developing and implementing curriculum
Assist with the review of children’s files
Assist with implementation of Head Start, School Readiness, Day Care and NAEYC guidelines and standards as well as Early Education departmental procedures
Approve field trips
Monitor staff attendance records
Conduct annual performance evaluations for all Teachers
Support Head Teachers in supervision of Assistant Teachers
Process time sheets and time off requests for all classroom staff
Ensure adequate classroom coverage in compliance with licensing requirements at all times (oversight and monitoring of systems for staff hiring procedures and the provision of substitutes when necessary.)
Assist with interviewing, hiring and training for all teaching positions.
Assist with the planning of regular staff meetings including the Head Teacher meetings.
Provide orientation and training for all classroom volunteers and substitute teachers.
Ensure that parents have access to information regarding developmentally appropriate practices for children. (directly responsibility of head teachers through monthly newsletters: classroom bulletin boards)
Analyze Head Start Child Outcomes data and provide feedback to education staff and management team.
Track continuing education for all classroom staff.
Collect and submit data for Head Start reports, ESI, etc.
Handle grievances filed by education staff in accordance with agency policies and procedures.
Collect, review and submit classroom supply orders.
Communicate effectively with families regarding the needs of their children including general memos regarding progam issues.
Assist with the development and implementation of staff training and development plans and preservice/inservice trainings to support the delivery of services to children, including children with disabilities and mental health concerns.
Assist in the development and updating of appropriate component plans in compliance with federal performance standards.
Actively participate in program and agency staff meetings.
Assist with implementation of transition activities for all children entering kindergarten and children entering Head Start.
