Requirements

  • Demonstrated customer service skills
  • Effective working with and motivating groups of people
  • Valid Hawaii state driver’s licence required
  • Organization skills, independent working and motivation skills
  • Ability to relate to students and school staff members in a friendly, professional manner
  • Ability to follow established policies and procedures and give clear instructions to others
  • Give group presentations
  • Communication skills
  • Ability to lift 30 lbs., and work extended hours during programs

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working with Microsoft Programs such as Word, Works, Publisher, and Excel is preferred.
  • College degree in education or related studies preferred.
  • Any combination of education and experience, which would provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to meet the minimum qualifications to perform the essential functions of this position.
  • Experience in working with public service.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in Coordination of relevant aspects of the Education Department involvement in on-site and off-site Programs.
  • Maintain all props, supplies, and materials used for programs. Support curriculum for school and community programming such as props, crafts and activities.
  • Collaborate in improvements to existing programs, new programs, and implement these changes by facilitating necessary scripts, props, and proper training of staff.
  • Serve as instructor for school, outreach and community programs.
  • Assist in coordinating necessary food, activity and park preparations prior to group arrivals.
  • Meet, greet, guide, give interpretations, instruct and oversee program participants.
  • Enforce all program guidelines and regulations.
  • Help to coordinate availability of needed program and department supplies.
  • Serve as primary staff for security and emergency situations for program participants.
  • Serve as instructor for necessary classes and presentations.
  • Assist Education Associate II and Sr. Education Associate as needed, and/or take on those tasks in their absence.
  • Provide reports as needed and attend meetings as assigned.
