About The Position

In this position... The EDS (Electrical Distribution Systems) Quality Engineer manages the quality lifecycle of the vehicle's "nervous system." This includes overseeing the manufacturing process of wiring harnesses, validating terminal crimp integrity, and resolving electrical failures during vehicle assembly or in the field (warranty).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related STEM field.
  • 3–5 years in LV or HV Electrical Distribution System
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Success in leading teams and participation in Management Reviews
  • Familiarity with Ford Quality Systems: FMA, G8D, DMAIC, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of following tools: Microsoft Office and FEDE GPDS knowledge is a plus

Nice To Haves

  • Six Sigma Green or Black Belt is highly preferred. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) is an asset.
  • Ability to effectively interface with and lead teams to deliver robust quality plans and improvements
  • Effective Self-Motivator who can manage a number of assignments simultaneously and works well in an unstructured environment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for becoming the customer advocate to the EDS Product Development teams and Drive Quality into Future Models
  • Experience in failure mode avoidance methods (and the linkages among them) including Quality-History, Interface Analysis, DFMEA, PFMEA, and DVP.
  • Six Sigma Experience (Green Belt or Black Belt Certified).

Responsibilities

  • Lead FMA best practices for forward model quality for Electrical Distribution System in Gasoline, Diesel, Hybrid, and all Electric vehicles
  • Collaborate with PD Engineers and PMT on Change Point Analysis and Risk analysis leading to robust FMA work plan
  • Partner with PD Engineers for GPDS Quality Deliverables in FEDE
  • Collaborate with cross functional team and drive the preventive reoccurring actions for AIMS / Warranty / Stop Ship / FSA using problem solving tools with emphasize on 3L5W
  • Collaborate with PD engineers and supplier team on Foundation Quality documents, such Quality History, Boundary Diagram, Interface Matrix, P-Diagram, DFMEA, PFMEA, SCCAF, Control Plan, etc.
