About The Position

Reporting to the Chief Content and Live Media Officer, the Flow Space Editorial Director is responsible for overseeing the growth and ongoing impact of SHE Media’s health brand Flow Space. Launched in March 2023 at SXSW, Flow Space serves to educate and connect women in their third life chapter and beyond. Flow Space integrates science and stories that inspire women to invest in their whole life health. The role of Editorial Director will oversee the current team of 6 staffers committed to the Flow Space brand, and work with shared resources in marketing and video. The Editorial Director will drive Flow Space’s overall editorial strategy, focused on the health needs of women in midlife. She/he will create cross-platform priorities in accordance with traffic and audience goals across editorial and key social platforms. The role will also work closely with our Flow Space Advisory Board around editorial and marketing partnership opportunities. The ideal candidate will be highly entrepreneurial with a growth mindset. She/he will be self-motivated, collaborative, and passionate about creating best-in-class content and community for women. This person should have a strong leadership position in digital media publishing, content marketing and experience in overseeing or creating credible health reporting. She/he must have excellent communication and problem-solving skills, an obsession with performance metrics, and the ability to build and maintain relationships with external contributors.

Requirements

  • 10-15+ years of professional writing/editing experience, specifically with online health and wellness brands
  • 5+ years of editorial and marketing management
  • Proven ability to build community based on shared interests. Examples include advisories, contributor communities, expert panels, insider groups, focus groups, etc.
  • Strong editorial judgment and ability to distill complex scientific information into easily digestible and engaging content for readers
  • A demonstrated understanding of digital strategy, analytics, ROI investment and social growth
  • A network of exceptional writers and strong roster of industry contacts
  • Ability to participate in and lead conversations with senior level executives across all media departments and with Penske Media Corp
  • Proven experience in relationship development with key talent, celebrities and influencers

Responsibilities

  • Ideate, research and produce engaging high-quality health content for Flow Space across key categories of reproductive health, mental health, physical health and interpersonal health
  • Recruit, assign and edit freelance writers for original content on the Flow Space site
  • Plan and manage editorial and social calendars, ensuring key tentpoles and subjects are being covered on a regular cadence
  • Oversee social media strategy with a focus on Instagram, LinkedIn and Pinterest
  • Develop and execute newsletter strategy for the Flow Space brand in collaboration with Audience Development Director
  • Strategize and produce digital issues and destinations for the Flow Space brand, including those that are sponsored
  • Maintain brand and editorial guidelines, ensuring consistent messaging across distribution channels
  • Optimize content for SEO, social, syndication and other referral sources, and leverage traffic analytics to increase engagement and grow audience
  • Build relationships and engage with external health experts
  • Stay current on latest trends and developments in health to inform content strategies and communications, and represent the Flow Space brand at industry events as needed
