About The Position

The Editorial Content Specialist serves as public relations and communications support member and copywriter for Boston Legacy Football Club, generating both internal and external communications. This is a part-time hourly role that is responsible for generating regular recurring documents such as postgame match reports, and newsletters, and writing blog posts, and also includes working club events including game days and promotional events.

Requirements

  • 1+ years of related work experience, preferably in a sports context
  • Majoring/taking courses in areas like Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, English, or Journalism may also suffice
  • Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, including the ability to professionally communicate and interact with all levels of management, staff, players, etc.
  • Must be self-directed and reliable in planning and completing of tasks
  • Detail-oriented, highly organized with an ability to think clearly under pressure and manage multiple tasks and projects simultaneously
  • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment and adapt to change without notice
  • Proficiency in Google productivity suite and ability to lean into other business systems as necessary
  • Ability to travel and work flexible hours, including on weekends and on holidays, due to the nature of professional sports
  • Team player with professional demeanor demonstrating responsibility, initiative and dependability, all with positive attitude
  • High ethical standards and strong sense of discretion and ability to protect sensitive and confidential information

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with media and consumer intelligence tools such as Meltwater or Zoomph preferred

Responsibilities

  • Creation of team-written materials including press releases, game notes, match day program, etc.
  • Assist with broadcast partner needs on game days such as facilitating in-game interviews
  • Create and craft compelling pitches for stories about the team, its players, and the club to be placed externally or produced internally
  • Track, compile, and distribute press clippings to showcase the team’s media coverage
  • Work media event operations for Boston Legacy game days and events including press conferences, training access and availability, pre/post-game media availability, etc.
  • Help direct matchday media operations, including fulfillment of media credentials, photo marshaling, distribution of game notes and communications, press box setup, postgame press conference coordination, and overall media support
  • Help maintain comprehensive editorial calendars, media lists, and asset calendars to ensure coordinated and efficient communications efforts
