The GE Healthcare Edison Engineering Development Program (EEDP) Internship offers professional development through a challenging internship in a dynamic, fast-paced, medical technology business. Interns are embedded in real engineering teams and work on impactful software projects under the guidance of experienced technical mentors and participate in professional development activities. Previous Project Examples include: Wireless hands-free peripheral communication development for portable equipment AWS cloud security landing zone implementation DevOps automation and AI Agent research GenAI-powered chatbot and knowledge base creation Digital Provisioning Service and app Integration Front-end signal visualization for Integrated patient monitoring system

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or master’s degree program and planning to continue studies after Summer 2026.
  • Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Biomedical Engineering (with a focus on software), or a closely related field.
  • Strong academic performance (GPA).
  • Java, C++, and/or Python.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to articulate technical problems in clear and simple terms.
  • Demonstrated analytical ability and technical competency in Computer Engineering or Computer Science areas.
  • Strong initiative with the ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Proven leadership skills and/or experience.
  • Able to work for a minimum of 10 weeks.
  • Willing to relocate to greater Milwaukee, WI area; relocation assistance and housing stipend available.
  • It is required that the candidate be legally authorized for immediate, unrestricted work in the U.S. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

Nice To Haves

  • A prior internship or co-op with software and/or firmware design experience.
  • Overall GPA greater than or equal to 3.0 (based on a 4.0 scale).
  • Proficiency in software languages such as JavaScript, Perl, Shell scripting, C, and/or MATLAB.
  • Experience with object-oriented design methodology, and/or algorithm development.
  • Experience with agile principles and methodologies.
  • Experience with Data Analytics, Machine Learning, and/or Artificial Intelligence technologies.
  • Passion for a career in healthcare technology.

Responsibilities

  • Designing, testing, and debugging software features for GE HealthCare products
  • Developing and enhancing internal development or testing tools
  • Performing data analytics and visualization
  • Creating technical documentation and knowledge resources
