About The Position

Emergency Department Technicians (Patient Care Techs) – Full Time, Part Time, and Per Diem At NewYork-Presbyterian Queens, ED Technicians thrive as invaluable care providers. As a designated 911 receiving hospital, our ED has achieved the highest distinction given by the American College of Surgeons and is now one of only a few Level I Trauma Centers in the New York region providing around-the-clock access to a trauma surgeon, operating room as well as every subspecialty of surgery available. As an ED Technician, you will provide compassionate basic patient care and assist with daily living activities under the direction of a Registered Nurse. You will collect data elements and communicate observations and information obtained using various methods and tools to the Registered Nurse (including but not limited to vital signs, surveillance of telemetry, perform EKG’s, glucose by finger stick). Improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean and healthy environment. Demonstrate what it means to be part of a team and raise the bar for patient care. We have Full Time, Part Time, and Per Diem ED Tech positions available at NYP/Queens Hospital located in Flushing, NY. Every weekend is required for the first 2 years of employment (every Saturday & Sunday). We currently have the following shifts available: Evening Shift - 3 PM - 11PM Night Shift - 11 PM - 7 AM

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalency
  • Current BLS certification from American Heart Association
  • At least one (1) year experience as an EKG Technician, Nursing Attendant or equivalent
  • Certification in one of the following required: EKG/Arrhythmia certificate , Medical technician certificate , EMT/ Paramedic certificate
  • Must achieve competency in all performance functions (i.e. Telemetry, phlebotomy,) within probationary period
  • Every weekend is required for the first 2 years of employment (every Saturday & Sunday)
  • all employees should live within a commutable distance to NYP
