The paramedic tech is directed by the nurse or physician to assure the highest degree of quality patient care. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: EDUCATION, CERTIFICATION, AND/OR LICENSURE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent. 2. Must possess current Licensure as required by state where services are being provided: WV: Paramedic through West Virginia Office of Emergency Medical Services 3. Nationally registered as required by state board: WV: Paramedic through National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians (Unless state license is State License Only (SLO) 4. CPR certification. 5. ACLS certification. 6. PALS certification. 7. AVADE training. EXPERIENCE: 1. One (1) year of pre-hospital/emergency medical services experience. CORE DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: The statements described here are intended to describe the general nature of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Greets patients and visitors entering the Emergency Department. 2. Performs routine tests such as phlebotomy, blood glucose monitoring, and EKGs. 3. Performs IV insertion under the direction and guidance of the physician. 4. Provides patient care including assisting with patient procedures and activities of daily living. 5. Assists with physical, respiratory and cardiopulmonary therapies. 6. Transports stable patients on cardiac monitors to inpatient units. 7. Provides instruction to patients and families under the direction of the RN. 8. Obtains routine vital signs including temperature/pulse/respiratory/rate (TPR), blood pressure (BP), oxygen saturate (02 STAT) and may assist with applying and removing physical restraints as directed by the physician. Also, may remove oxygen tubing from a wall gauge, attach tubing to an oxygen tank and adjust the flow meter on the tank as ordered by the physician. 9.
