Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of direct patient care experience in an Emergency Department in a hospital required.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) from American Heart Association, required.

Responsibilities

  • Take and document vital signs, promptly notifying nurses of abnormalities.
  • Perform 12-lead EKGs and report results to ED physicians.
  • Conduct bedside blood sugar testing and inform nurses of abnormal readings.
  • Apply extremity splints, provide crutch ambulation training, and assist with basic wound care.
  • Assist with urethral catheterization, sterile tray prep, dressing changes, and phlebotomy.
  • Manage and troubleshoot tele-sitter carts, ensuring seamless operation and connectivity.
  • Perform safety checks and respond to remote tele-sitter escalation for face-to-face intervention.
  • Safely transport patients, equipment, and medications across departments, utilizing proper body mechanics.
  • Recognize cardiac rhythms and report findings to the nursing team.
  • Maintain and clean cardiac monitors and pumps.
  • Monitor patients in restraint or seclusion, ensuring policy compliance and documenting observations.
  • Keep patient care areas stocked with necessary supplies.
  • Perform other duties as needed to ensure efficient delivery of patient care.
  • Comply with all WellStar Health System policies, standards, and ethical guidelines.
