EY‑Parthenon’s Strategy and Execution Macroeconomics Team is seeking an economist to support macroeconomic and sectoral analysis across a range of client engagements and thought‑leadership initiatives. This role is well‑suited for candidates with approximately two years of professional experience who are looking to deepen their exposure to applied macroeconomics, sectoral forecasting, and consulting‑oriented economic analysis. The economist will work closely with senior economists and EY‑Parthenon engagement teams, contributing rigorous economic insights that inform client strategy, executive decision‑making, and external publications.

Requirements

  • Strong foundation in macroeconomics and applied microeconomics.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently on economic analysis and data tasks, with guidance from senior economists.
  • Comfort translating economic analysis into concise narratives for non‑technical audiences.
  • Proficiency in creating client-ready charts and visuals to accompany analysis
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and strong analytical judgment.
  • Collaborative mindset and ability to work effectively across teams.
  • Master’s degree in economics, applied economics, econometrics, or a related field.
  • Approximately 18 months of relevant professional experience in economic research, consulting, forecasting, policy analysis, or a related analytical role.
  • Hands‑on experience working with macroeconomic or sectoral economic data.
  • Proficiency in Excel and at least one statistical or econometric tool (e.g., EViews, R, Python, Stata).
  • Strong quantitative, analytical, and problem‑solving skills.
  • You must either reside in or be in a commutable distance to your office location for this position.
  • The ability and willingness to travel and work in excess of standard hours when necessary. In certain circumstances, travel may be required beyond your work location based on client and project needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience contributing to economic forecasts or scenario analysis.
  • Familiarity with US macroeconomic indicators, monetary policy, and economic data releases.
  • Exposure to client‑facing analysis or consulting‑style deliverables.
  • Experience supporting presentations or written research for senior stakeholders.
  • Interest in applying economics to business strategy and decision‑making.
  • Certified Business Economist® qualification.
  • Knowledge of how to leverage firm-approved AI tools in a business setting, including Microsoft Copilot.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing US economic data, Federal Reserve updates, and policy announcements to create clear, well-structured analyses for client deliverables, internal briefings, and external publications.
  • Support sector-level modeling and forecasting across a diverse range of industries.
  • Leverage quantitative and econometric techniques, working with macroeconomic and sectoral datasets using Excel and statistical software such as EViews, R, Python, or Stata.
  • Handling time-sensitive requests and collaborating closely with senior economists and cross-functional stakeholders to communicate your findings effectively.
  • Partner with EY-Parthenon engagement teams to contribute to client proposals, project analyses, and presentations.
  • Translating complex economic data into actionable solutions for clients

  • The base salary range for this job in all geographic locations in the US is $130,000 to $185,000.
  • Individual salaries within those ranges are determined through a wide variety of factors including but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills and geography.
