As an integral part of the Department, the Echo Tech is responsible for performing multiple diagnostic non-invasive Cardiology procedures. This role involves working in conjunction with the Echo Cardiologist and Supervisor to ensure high quality diagnostic images. The Echo Tech assists Anesthesiologists and Cardiologists with various Transesophageal Echocardiography (TEE) procedures in the OR, Intensive Care Units, and Cath Lab, as well as Intra Cardiac Echocardiography (ICE) in the Cath Lab. The position requires participation in after-hours rotation for standby and call-back, timely response to requests, and accurate reporting and documentation of critical values and patient records. Responsibilities also include proper equipment usage and cleaning, maintaining a clean work area, exercising sound judgment in patient care, and consulting with medical staff when necessary. The Echo Tech functions as a patient advocate, educates patients and families, and engages in continuous professional development. Additionally, the role involves assisting with patient transportation or clerical functions and participating in department Performance Improvement projects, while demonstrating care appropriate to all age-related needs of patients and supporting customer satisfaction.
