Under general supervision, teaches and instructs pre-school children in a curriculum of pre-academic social, adaptive, communication, and motor skills. MAJOR TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES Prepares and implements weekly lesson plans in conformance with established program curriculum; assists in integrating Muckleshoot language and culture in the classroom setting. Performs development screenings and maintains a healthy, safe, and developmentally appropriate program. Provides opportunities for parents to learn about the growth and development of their children. Directs the activities of instructional assistants and volunteers. Participates in school meetings, IEP/IFSP/ILP meetings, and in-service and other trainings. Plans and participates in parent conferences; supports parent involvement in the classroom. Prepares and maintains all required documentation and records; provides reports for administrative purposes. Requisitions, stores and maintains an appropriate inventory of textbooks, instructional materials, supplies and equipment. Supervises students in a variety of educational settings. Uses positive reinforcement strategies and other appropriate techniques to assist students in the development of appropriate behavior and an appreciation of human diversity. Plans, organizes, and develops a variety of instructional materials and learning aids for use with individual or small groups of students. Uses good judgment regarding appropriate action to assist injured or physically ill students. Maintains an orderly, attractive and positive learning environment. Because of the Tribe’s commitment to community service and the well being of its members, each employee may be expected to perform a wide range of office and field duties from time to time. Such duties may or may not be related to their regular responsibilities.
