About The Position

This position is located at the Eastern Region Office in Pitt County, Greenville, NC. The Region Director is responsible for the overall management of the Eastern Regional Office and the thirteen (13) correctional facilities located within the Eastern Region of NC. This management role includes overseeing custody, administration, programming and maintenance for large institutions, medium sized facilities, and correctional centers. This Correctional Administrator II position serves as the Prisons' Eastern Region Director and reports directly to the Deputy Secretary of Institutions. On occasion, this position will perform duties for individuals in the department's chain of command, including the Secretary and Chief Deputy Secretary. The Correctional Administrator II has overall responsibility to manage the Eastern Region Office and all correctional facilities located within the region. This includes managing personnel, budget, classification, programs, custody, health care, maintenance and fiscal affairs. This position is responsible for developing, interpreting and implementing DAC/Prisons policies and procedures, and providing consultation and directives in all elements of the operations. Direct supervision is provided by this position to an Assistant Regional Director, Wardens, Regional Business Officer, an Administrative Specialist II, with indirect supervision to a Regional Programs Manager, Regional Administrative Officer, Regional Security Specialist, and Operations Manager. This position conducts and oversees annual on-site inspections of each facility in the assigned region.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree from an appropriately accredited institution and five years of supervisory, administrative, or consultative experience in corrections or related work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must be eligible for certification by the North Carolina Criminal Justice Education & Training Standards Commission.
