About The Position

To ensure the kitchen is clean, well maintained and organized at all times. The Steward will maintain a proper level of clean inventory with a high standard of cleanliness according to the sanitation codes. The job entails basic maintenance and cleanliness of the cooking equipment.

  • Must be effective in handling problems in the workplace, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary

  • Must be effective in listening to and understanding the concerns and issues raised by other employees or customers
  • Must be able to prioritize and delegate work as needed
  • Must communicate effectively with all levels of management
  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming
  • Maintain regular attendance
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, customers and patrons
  • Must be flexible to provide assistance to management team in a 24/7 operating environment
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Minimum of high school diploma / equivalency
  • Must possess English Language Skills sufficient to fully comprehend job assignments, including the ability to read, write and communicate in fluent English
  • Working extended hours may be required as needed
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, and use repetitive wrist and finger movement, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, climb stairs, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl
  • Work standing on feet for extended periods of time, approximately 8+ hours per day
  • Occasionally lifting, pulling or pushing up to 50 lbs

Responsibilities

  • Assist in the organization and cleanliness of kitchen area
  • Receive deliveries and put product away with instruction
  • Adhere to all sanitation and safety guidelines
  • Open and close the kitchen on a daily basis
  • Complete all assigned tasks
  • Assist the Cooks as necessary
  • Assist in food preparation
  • Dispose of waste
  • Ensure all items are clean according to sanitation guidelines
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Monitor proper tank temperatures and chemicals
  • Record and communicate all breakage
  • Assist in the training of new employees
