About The Position

At Tutor Me Education, we are revolutionizing the way students learn, and we're seeking passionate teachers and tutors with special education experience to provide 1:1 in-home tutoring in Daly City, CA! About the Role: As an Tutor at Tutor Me Education, you’ll provide personalized, one-on-one tutoring to students with special needs in their homes. You will be responsible for helping students with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on their Individualized Education Plan (IEP). We are currently hiring for multiple positions across all cities in Daly City, CA Details: In-Person Tutoring in Daly City, CA Schedule: 20 hours a month; 2 sessions a week for 2.5 hours Pay ranges from $25-$35 per hour

Requirements

  • Experience working with young students with autism in early childhood or elementary settings
  • Background in special education or Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA); RBT experience preferred
  • Strong understanding of early literacy development, including phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight words
  • Experience supporting language and communication development in students with speech delays
  • Familiarity with Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies for young learners
  • Skilled in integrating behavioral strategies with structured academic instruction
  • Patient, engaging, and energetic, with the ability to maintain attention in young learners
  • Comfortable using technology (e.g., tablets) as a learning and engagement tool
  • Ability to conduct an academic assessment to guide instruction

Responsibilities

  • Conduct an initial tutor assessment to determine current literacy and communication skill levels
  • Provide individualized instruction in foundational literacy, including letter recognition, phonemic awareness, phonics, and sight words
  • Support development of reading fluency and comprehension through guided, structured activities
  • Assist with early writing skills, including letter formation, basic sentence structure, and organization
  • Support language and communication development through structured interaction, modeling, and repetition
  • Incorporate Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) strategies to support emotional regulation, engagement, and confidence
  • Implement ABA-based or behavior-informed strategies to support focus, transitions, and task completion
  • Use structured routines, frequent breaks, and engaging activities to maintain attention
  • Integrate the use of a tablet and interactive tools to support learning and motivation
  • Reinforce strengths in math while maintaining a primary focus on literacy and communication
  • Create a positive, patient, and supportive learning environment
  • Provide progress updates to caregivers and adjust strategies as needed
